Paddy Russell (referee)
Paddy Russell is a Gaelic football referee from County Tipperary. He refereed two All-Ireland SFC finals. Career Russell began refereeing in 1976, motivated by fellow Tipperary native John Moloney. He made his inter-county debut in 1981. The 1990 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final was when he sent off Colm O'Neill, though O'Neill's team Cork won The Double. Russell also refereed the 1995 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final between Dublin and Tyrone. He had a moustache. He memorably sent off Charlie Redmond. But Redmond refused to leave the field. Russell got him by the collar and dragged him off. The GAA had to bring in red and yellow cards because of this. The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. Charlie Redmond
Charles Redmond is a Dublin-born former Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Dublin county team and current manager of Trinity Gaels seniors. His notoriety within the game was secured during the 1995 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final when he was sent off but refused to leave the field of play; as a result, the GAA introduced red and yellow cards to the sport. He missed Erin's Isle's club campaign as a result of the two sendings off. Playing career Redmond received three All Stars for his performances with Dublin, in 1993, 1994 and in his only all-Ireland winning year with Dublin in 1995. Paul Galvin (Gaelic Footballer)
Paul Galvin (born 2 November 1979) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays Gaelic football with his local club Finuge, his divisional side Feale Rangers and for the Kerry county team between 2003 and 2014. Galvin had the honour of being named as the 1000th All Star Award. He also represented Ireland in the 2004 International Rules Series. Galvin writes a weekly fashion column for the ''Irish Independent'' newspaper and presents a show on Radio Kerry. He has also managed the Wexford footballers. The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, bar one, since the 1888 championship. The "Battle of Omagh" was a Gaelic football match of Ireland's National Football League, played at Healy Park in Omagh, on Sunday, 5 February 2006 between Dublin and the 2005 All-Ireland SFC champions Tyrone. The final score, of 1–09 to 1–06, was in favour of Dublin. The highlights of the match included the sendings-off of Dublin's Alan Brogan and Tyrone's Colin Holmes and, subsequently, Dublin's Denis Bastick and Tyrone's Stephen O'Neill after both received second yellow cards. The 2006 National Football League, known for sponsorship reasons as the Allianz National Football League, was the 75th staging of the National Football League (NFL), an annual Gaelic football tournament for the Gaelic Athletic Association county teams of Ireland. The 1996 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final was the 109th All-Ireland Final and the deciding match of the 1996 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, an inter-county Gaelic football tournament for the top teams in Ireland. It went to a replay and was eventually won by Meath, with Mayo losing. Neither team was expected to make the final as the competition got underway; Meath were expected to lose to Carlow in their first game of the Leinster Senior Football Championship.
