Paddy Flanagan
Paddy Flanagan (1941 – 21 November 2000) was one of the top Irish cyclists of the 1960s and 1970s. He came to prominence in the Rás Tailtean. He rode his first in the Rás Tailtean in 1958 and came 11th. The following year he came second. He won in 1960 and again in 1964, the first to win twice. He had two stage wins and three top five finishes in the years to 1969 Flanagan and his brother Ned joined the Irish Cycling Federation in 1969. He finished the Tour of Ireland where he finished in fourth place. He rejoined the National Cycling Association and rode the 1974 Rás. The following year he won it for the third time. Kildangan
Kildangan (; ) is a village in County Kildare in Ireland. History During the Anglo-Norman settlement of Ireland, Maurice Fitzgerald of Allen built a castle there as part of a defensive line along the River Barrow from Carlow to Lea Castle near Portarlington. Near the castle a church was built which gave the locality its name. The original castle and church were located within what are now the grounds of Kildangan Stud. The castle was dynamited in 1882 and the stone reused to build the existing Victorian Jacobean style house to the design of William Hopkins. Location Kildangan is situated on the R417 between Monasterevin and Athy. The village lies close to the flood plain of the River Barrow, near the County Laois border. Kildangan is linked to Kildare town by means of the Local Road L3010, which passes through Kildangan Stud. County Kildare ( ga, Contae Chill Dara) is a county in Ireland. It is in the province of Leinster and is part of the Eastern and Midland Region. It is named after the town of Kildare. Sé O'Hanlon
Séamus ''"Sé"'' O'Hanlon also known as ''Shay O'Hanlon'' (born 14 September 1941 in Dublin, Ireland) is a former Irish amateur road racing cyclist. He was a top amateur in Ireland in the 1960s and 1970s, winning the Rás Tailteann stage race in 1962, 1965, 1966 and 1967. O'Hanlon belonged to the National Cycling Association (NCA), one of the three cycling associations in Ireland at that time and the one whose members were excluded by the UCI from world championships and Olympic Games. Specific race history O'Hanlon dominated the Rás Tailteann and wore the leader's yellow jersey for 36 days, winning 24 stages, his first in 1960. The following year, he won three consecutive stages and in 1962 he won the race. He raced in France after his Rás win in 1962, had difficulty with his NCA licence in France but rode well before returning to Ireland. Gene Mangan
Eugene "Gene" Mangan (born 1936) is an Irish Cycle sport, cyclist. He won the Rás Tailteann in 1955. Early life Mangan is a native of County Kerry. He is a distant cousin of John Mangan, who also won the Rás. Career Mangan joined Killorglin Cycling Club in 1952. In that year, and in 1953, he won the County Kerry Road Championship. Mangan won the 1955 Rás Tailteann aged 18; he is still the youngest-ever winner. In 1958 Rás he won the last four stages, setting a record that still stands. Mangan also won several races at the Irish National Cycling Championships. Personal life Mangan married Maeve of Glenbeigh County Kerry . He was honoured at an event at Áras an Uachtaráin in 2000.
