The Packard-Bentley ''Mavis'' is a one-off racing car. It is powered by a Packard 4M-2500 V-12, developing and () of torque, sourced from an American World War II-era marine military PT boat. Napier-Bentley
The Napier-Bentley is a vintage racing car; a one-off special built in 1972 by David Llewellyn and Peter Morley. It was based on a chassis constructed from two 4-litre Bentley sideframe members, shortened and modified to a 10 foot wheelbase. It has a 24 Litre Napier Sea Lion W12 boat engine based on the Napier Lion aeroplane engine (the same as that used in the silver Napier-Railton, which it resembles closely), which develops approximately . The Napier-Bentley is seen at historic racing events mostly in the United Kingdom but has been used at European events. With its red bodywork and Napier-Railton-esque grille, it is spectacular and entertaining in action. The Napier-Railton is an aero-engined racing car built in 1933, designed by Reid Railton to a commission by John Cobb, and built by Thomson & Taylor. It was driven by Cobb, mainly at the Brooklands race track where it holds the all-time lap record () which was set in 1935. A PT boat (short for patrol torpedo boat) was a motor torpedo boat used by the United States Navy in World War II. It was small, fast, and inexpensive to build, valued for its maneuverability and speed but hampered at the beginning of the war by ineffective torpedoes, limited armament, and comparatively fragile construction that limited some of the variants to coastal waters. Vintage Sports-Car Club
The Vintage Sports-Car Club or VSCC is an active British motor racing club that organises events, both competitive and social, throughout the United Kingdom. These are primarily, but not exclusively for pre-1940 cars. In 2019, (thus prior to the Covid 19 disruptions), 43 events were held in Scotland, England and Wales. Race Meetings were organised at venues including Silverstone (Spring Start in April), Oulton Park, and Donington Park. Sporting Trials were held at off-road venues including the Scottish Trial, Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Welsh, Lakeland and Cotswold Trials. Bentley 8 Litre
The Bentley 8 Litre was a large inline 6-cylinder super-luxury car made in various configurations by Bentley Motors Limited at Cricklewood, London. Announced 15 September 1930, it was also the last completely new model by Bentley before the company's financial collapse and forced sale to Rolls-Royce Limited. A Bentley 4 Litre featuring a 4-Litre Inline-6 engine in a shortened chassis was announced on 15 May 1931. Introduced a year into the Great Depression. the 8-litre and its smaller 4-litre sibling were unable to turn the company's finances around.
