Pacific Northwest Ballet School
Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) is a ballet company based in Seattle, Washington, in the United States. It is said to have the highest per capita attendance in the United States, with 11,000 subscribers in 2004. The company consists of 49 dancers; there are more than 100 performances throughout the year. PNB performs in McCaw Hall at the Seattle Center. It is especially known for its performance of the Stowell/Maurice Sendak ''The Nutcracker, Nutcracker'', which it had presented from 1983 through 2014, as well as made into a Nutcracker: The Motion Picture, feature film. In 2006, the company was chosen to perform in the Fall for Dance Festival at New York's New York City Center, City Center Theatre and at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. McCaw Hall
Marion Oliver McCaw Hall (often abbreviated to McCaw Hall) is a performing arts hall in Seattle, Washington, United States. Located on the grounds of Seattle Center and owned by the city of Seattle, McCaw Hall's two principal tenants are the Seattle Opera and Pacific Northwest Ballet. The building is named for Marion Oliver McCaw, whose four sons donated $20 million to fund a major renovation in 2003. It was formerly known as the Civic Auditorium and Seattle Opera House. History The building originally opened in 1928 as the Civic Auditorium. Its construction was funded by a donation from Seattle saloon owner James Osborne and a voter-approved municipal bond issue; the site was donated to the city by David Denny, one of the members of the Denny Party credited with founding the city of Seattle. Alastair Macaulay
Alastair Macaulay is an English writer and dance critic. He was the chief dance critic for ''The New York Times'' from 2007 until he retired in 2018. He was previously chief dance critic at ''The Times'' and Literary Supplement and chief theater critic of the ''Financial Times'', both of London. He founded the British quarterly ''Dance Theater Journal'' in 1983. He writes that his first morning in New York City was before September 1981. In addition to his roles as critic, Macaulay has written for ''The New Yorker'' and also published a biography on Margot Fonteyn. Miranda Weese
Miranda Weese (born ) is an American former ballet dancer, teacher and ballet master. She joined the New York City Ballet in 1993 and was promoted to principal dancer in 1996. In 2007, she left to perform with the Pacific Northwest Ballet, first as a guest artist, then joined the company as a principal dancer, before retiring in 2010. In 2017, she joined the Boston Ballet as a children's ballet master. Early life and training Weese was born in San Bernardino, California. Noelani Pantastico (born May 4, 1980) is an American ballet dancer. She was formerly a principal dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle and also danced at the Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo in Monaco. Carla Körbes
Carla Körbes is a Brazilian ballet dancer who performed as a principal dancer with the Pacific Northwest Ballet, then became the associate artistic director of L.A Dance Project. She is now an associate professor at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music's ballet faculty. Early life and training Körbes was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil. She started ballet at age 5 and entered the Ballet Vera Bublitz school at age 11. Carrie Imler
Carrie Imler (born 1977 or 1978) is an American ballet dancer. She joined the Pacific Northwest Ballet in 1995 and became a principal dancer in 2002. She retired in 2017, following a 22-year career, and started teaching at the company's school. Early life Imler was raised in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She received her ballet training at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet School, and summer intensives at the School of American Ballet. Chalnessa Eames (born 1978) is a ballet dancer who performed with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Early life and education Eames was born in Los Angeles, California. She is one of five children born to Rebecca (Becky) and David Eames. From the age of three, she grew up in Bellingham, Washington, where she studied ballet at the Nancy Whyte School of Ballet and the Morca Academy of Performing Arts. Sarah-Gabrielle Ryan is a Mexican-American ballet dancer who is currently a soloist dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle.
