Ventura, officially named San Buenaventura (Spanish for "Saint Bonaventure"), is a city on the Southern Coast of California and the county seat of Ventura County. The population was 110,763 at the 2020 census. Ventura is a popular tourist destination, owing to its historic landmarks, beaches, and resorts. Ventura was founded by the Spanish in 1782, when Saint Junípero Serra established Mission San Buenaventura. The Ventura Unified School District (VUSD) is a school district headquartered in Ventura, California, United States. The district serves students in Ventura and surrounding unincorporated communities of Ventura County including Saticoy, Casitas Springs, Oak View, and La Conchita. As of the 2019–20 school year, VUSD enrollment numbered 16,353 students. History In November 2020, the Ventura Unified School District Board of Trustees voted to change the name of Blanche Reynolds Elementary School to Lemon Grove School effective with the 2020–21 school year.
