Pachang River
The Bazhang River, also spelled Pachang River, () is a river in Taiwan. It flows through Chiayi City, Chiayi County and Tainan City for 81 km. History On July 22, 2000, the Bazhang River experienced extreme flooding. Four workers on a riverbed construction project became trapped in the river by flash flooding. After waiting for over three hours for air rescue, to the shock of viewers on live television, the workers were swept away by floodwaters. Another flood event occurred in 2001. Chiayi City
Chiayi (, Taiwanese Hokkien, Taigi Pe̍h-ōe-jī, POJ: ''Ka-gī''; ), officially known as Chiayi City, is a Provincial city (Taiwan), city located in the plains of southwestern Taiwan. Formerly called ''Kagee'' during the late Qing dynasty and ''Kagi'' during the Taiwan under Japanese rule, Japanese era (), its historical name is ''Tirosen''. Chiayi County
Chiayi County (Mandarin pinyin: ''jiā yì xiàn''; Hokkien POJ: ''Ka-gī-koān'') is a county in southwestern Taiwan surrounding but not including Chiayi City. It is the sixth largest county in Taiwan. Name The former Chinese placename was Tsu-lo-san (), a representation of the original Formosan-language name ''Tirosen''. A shortened version, Tsulo, was then used to name Tsulo County, which originally covered the underdeveloped northern two-thirds of the island. Alishan Range
The Alishan Range () is a mountain range in the central-southern region of Taiwan. It is separated by the Qishan River from the Yushan Range, the tallest range in Taiwan, to the east of the Alishan Range. The Taiwan Strait is a -wide strait separating the island of Taiwan and continental Asia. The strait is part of the South China Sea and connects to the East China Sea to the north. Lantan Lake
Lantan Lake () or Orchid Lake is a lake and reservoir in East District, Chiayi City, Taiwan. History The lake is also called the Holland Lake, Dutch Lake, and Hong-Mao Pei (see ang mo) because the lake was dug by the Dutch around 300 years ago during the Dutch Formosa rule by taking it source from the Bazhang River to irrigate the broad fields run by the Dutch East India Company.
