PV Pride Of The Murray
PV ''Pride of the Murray'', like many other Australian paddle wheelers, started out life as a timber logging barge. It was built at Echuca on the Murray River in 1924, and relaunched as a tourist vessel in 1977, also at Echuca. In 2022 the vessel was transported overland to Longreach, Queensland, for use as a tourist attraction on the Thompson River. History ''Pride of the Murray'' was built as the timber logging barge ''C24'', at Echuca in 1924. Constructed by C Felshaw for the Murray River Sawmills, ''C24'' took a team of twelve men between three and four months to complete. In 1956, ''C24'' was towed upstream by PS ''Oscar W'' for use during the construction of the new Barmah bridge. Following completion of the bridge, the barge was let go to drift downstream with the current (though still handled by two men) for five days to return to Echuca. Murray River Flag (Combined)
The Murray River Flag is flown from paddle steamers and other vessels in the Australian States of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia that ply the waters of the Murray-Darling river system. Little is known about the flag's early history but it may have originated as far back as 1850 when the formation of the Murray River League was announced. R. W. Beddome, founder of the League, enthused "Up with the Murray flag." No fragments of the original Murray River Flag are known to exist and three variants have passed down to the present day. The working life of ''Hero'' first ended in 1957, but it was later restored c2000 as a first class luxury paddle steamer finely fitted-out for private charters. PS ''Canberra'' is an original paddle steamer operated by Murray River Paddlesteamers in Echuca. History PS ''Canberra'' was commissioned to be built in 1912 by the Conner Family, She was built at the mouth of the Murray in Goolwa, South Australia. Originally used as a single deck fishing steamer by the Connor family at Boundary Bend, she was part of their large fishing fleet which consisted of the '' PS Etona'' and ''PS Ranger''. Moama
Moama ( or ) is a town in the Riverina district of southern New South Wales, Australia, in the Murray River Council local government area. The town is directly across the Murray River from the larger town of Echuca in the neighbouring state of Victoria, to which it is connected by a bridge. Barmah
Barmah is a town in the state of Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. Barmah has the distinction of being located north of the border with the state of New South Wales. New South Wales is north of Victoria, with the border being the westward-flowing Murray River.
