Persatuan Sepakbola Medan dan Sekitarnya, commonly known as PSMS, is an Indonesian Association football, football club based in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. It is one of Indonesia's most successful clubs. They currently compete in Liga 2 (Indonesia), Liga 2, the second level in Indonesian football tier. History Early years (1907–1950) PSMS history starts with DVB. Liga Indonesia
The Indonesian football league system is a series of league system for association football clubs in Indonesia. Since 1994, Liga Indonesia is the league competition featuring association football clubs, as a result of two existing top-flight football leagues merger: Perserikatan (amateur) and Galatama (semi professional). Liga Indonesia is managed by PSSI, the Indonesian national football federation. There are three levels of competition in the hierarchy recently. Perserikatan is a term that commonly refers to national amateur association football, football competitions in Indonesia held between 1931 and 1994 before the formation of Liga Indonesia, organized by the PSSI, the Indonesian football federation. The competition involved hundreds clubs in Indonesia and was divided into several levels. In English language, English, the term ''Perserikatan'' may literally translate to ''inter-association football championship'' as this competition involved all regional-level football associations in Indonesia. Since 1979, in parallel, another national football league, Galatama (''The Premier League''), was established for semi professional football clubs. Persatuan Sepakbola Makassar ( 'Football Association of Makassar'; abbreviated as PSM) is an Indonesian professional football club based in Makassar, South Sulawesi that competes in Liga 1. Soetjipto Soentoro
Soetjipto Soentoro (16 June 1941 – 12 November 1994), commonly known as "Gareng", was an Indonesian footballer who captained Indonesia's national team. Biography Born in Bandung, Jawa Barat, he was raised in a family of football enthusiasts - his brothers were Soegijo and Soegito, who played for Persija Jakarta between 1952 and 1964. Soetjipto played football as a teenager in the streets in the area of Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta in 1954. He came to the attention of Djamiat Dalhar when playing for Setia Jakarta (a Persija youth team) who subsequently called Soetjipto up to the national junior team. Jaya Hartono (born 20 October 1963 in Medan, North Sumatera) is a football coach from Indonesia. He coached Persib Bandung from 2008 to 2010. He previously served as coach at Deltras Sidoarjo. Ricky Yacobi
Ricky Yacobi (born Ricky bin Yacub; 12 March 1963 – 21 November 2020) was an Indonesian football player. He usually played as a striker and was one of the most prominent Indonesian footballers of the 1980s. His nickname was the "Indonesian Paul Breitner". He made a name for himself at the 1986 Asian Games when he led the Indonesian national football team. In 1988, Japanese club Matsushita (currently known as Gamba Osaka) bought him, but he failed to make an impact with the team because of the climate and weather conditions. He only played 6 games for the side, scoring one goal. After retiring, he opened a football school called Sekolah Sepak Bola (SSB) Ricky Yacobi in Jakarta, which he operated.
