PR-182
Puerto Rico Highway 182 (PR-182) is a primary road located entirely within the municipality of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. The road has its northern terminus at its intersection with Puerto Rico Highway 181 in the northwestern end of the town, near San Lorenzo, and its southern terminus in downtown Yabucoa, near PR-9910 and PR-3, where it provides access to many municipal government offices. PR-182 provides an alternate route to PR-181 to reach San Lorenzo from Yabucoa. The latter road continues south-southwest to Patillas. Puerto Rico Planning Board
The Puerto Rico Planning Board ( es, Junta de Planificación) created in the May 12, 1942 during Rexford G. Tugwell's governorship as the Puerto Rico Planning, Urbanization, and Zoning Board, is the only government agency in charge of centralized planning under the American flag. Its creation was in keeping with Tugwell's New Deal philosophy that Puerto Rico should operate under a highly centralized, all-encompassing territorial government. For decades, the Planning Board was in charge of all economic planning, land use zoning and case-by-case permitting in Puerto Rico. In the 1970s the permitting process was delegated to another government agency, the Rules and Permits Administration (ARPE) and since the late 1990s, major cities have been taking over that role in their own jurisdictions. Humacao () is a city and municipality in Puerto Rico located in the eastern coast of the island, north of Yabucoa; south of Naguabo; east of Las Piedras; and west of Vieques Passage. Humacao is spread over 12 barrios and Humacao Pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The region of what is now Humacao belonged to the Taíno region of Humaka, which covered a portion of the southeast coast of Puerto Rico. Guayabota is a barrio in the municipality of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 3,124. History Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Guayabota barrio was 904. Geography The area is prone to landslides and its infrastructure and bridges have often been destroyed by hurricanes, and even by heavy rainfall. Puerto Rico Highway 182 goes through this barrio and its sectors. Hurricane Maria Hurricane Maria struck the island of Puerto Rico on September 19, 2017, knocking out power to the entire island (and also affected access to clean water).
