PBA Reinforced Conference
The PBA Reinforced Conference was a tournament held during a Philippine Basketball Association season from 1985– 1989, and again in 2003. The tournament usually allows team to hire one or two imports, although the 2003 edition rules that teams sign foreign players with a height-limit of 6'4" below. History The first edition of the tournament began in the 1985 PBA season with guest team, the famed Northern Consolidated RP national squad winning over Manila Beer, via a four-game sweep. A year later, Tanduay defeated Great Taste to win the title. But, from 1987- 1989, San Miguel Beer dominated the tournament. In 1987, they defeated the Hills Bros Coffee Kings in five games. A season later, the Beermen beat Shell, 4–1, and in 1989, they beat arch-rival Anejo Rhum, to complete the 1989 grand slam. Great Taste Coffee Makers
The Great Taste Coffee Makers were a basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1975 to 1992. It was one of the founding members of the PBA, the Asia's first and oldest professional league. The franchise was owned by CFC Corporation (now merged with Universal Robina Corporation) and named after its brand of instant coffee, Great Taste Coffee. The franchise also played under other CFC brands such as N-Rich, Presto and Tivoli. The franchise won six PBA championships, mostly under coach Baby Dalupan. In 1993, CFC sold its PBA franchise to Sta. Lucia Realty & Development, Inc., which absorbed several Presto players. The Powerade Tigers were a professional basketball team that played in the Philippine Basketball Association from 2002 to 2012. The franchise was owned by Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) when the company acquired Cosmos Bottling Corporation from RFM Corporation. From 2002 to 2010, the team played as the Coca-Cola Tigers. Rudolph Conse "Rudy" Hatfield II (born September 13, 1977) is an American-Filipino retired professional basketball player who played for Laguna Lakers in the Metropolitan Basketball Association and for Tanduay Rhum Masters, Pop Cola Panthers, Coca-Cola Tigers and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Philippine Basketball Association. Bobby Ray Parks Sr. (November 26, 1961 – March 30, 2013) was an American professional basketball player from Grand Junction, Tennessee. He played for Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) from 1980-1984 and played internationally in the Philippines, Indonesia and France. Michael Hackett (born May 11, 1960) is a retired American professional basketball player. He was the Liga Profesional de Baloncesto MVP in 1984, and the Israeli League Top Scorer in 1991. Basketball career He attended Jacksonville University, where he was considered by University of Alabama at Birmingham coach Gene Bartow as "the best 6-5 player in America." Hackett was drafted in 1982 by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 21st pick of the 3rd round of that year's National Basketball Association draft, but was released before the season started. He also played overseas, including in the Philippines for Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association.
