Pétange (; lb, Péiteng, ; german: Petingen) is a Communes of Luxembourg, commune and town in south-western Luxembourg. It is part of the Esch-sur-Alzette (canton), canton of Esch-sur-Alzette. Pétange lies on the borders with both Belgium and France. , the town of Pétange, which lies in the north of the commune, has a population of 7,399. Other towns within the commune include Lamadelaine and Rodange. Pierre Mellina
Pierre Mellina (born 25 February 1957) is a Luxembourgish politician and retired track and field athlete. Political office He is currently the Mayor of Pétange, a Communes of Luxembourg, commune in the far south-west of the country, standing for the Christian Social People's Party (CSV). He was previously a member of the communal council (1994 – 99) and an échevin (Luxembourg), échevin (2000 – 04) in Pétange. Sporting achievements In the early 1980s, Mellina was one of Luxembourg's foremost Long-distance track event, long-distance runners, winning the Luxembourgian national championships in the 5000 metres, 5,000 (1981, 1982) and the 10000 metres, 10,000 metres (1982). Rodange
Rodange (german: Rodingen) is a town in the commune of Pétange, in south-western Luxembourg. It lies next to the border with Belgium, across which is the town of Athus. The town is to the south-west of the town of Pétange and to the west of the smaller town of Lamadelaine. , Rodange has a population of 5,505, making it the 18th-most populous town in Luxembourg. The town has a railway station served by CFL trains. Rodange is situated on Line 70, which connects the south-west of the country to Luxembourg City; at Rodange, the line branches, and connects to both Athus and the French town of Longuyon (via Longwy). Forêts was a department of the French First Republic, and later the First French Empire, in present-day Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. Its name, meaning 'forests', comes from the Ardennes forests.
