Páll Klettskarð
Páll Klettskarð (born 17 May 1990) is Faroese footballer who plays as a striker for KÍ and the Faroe Islands national team. International career He was called up to the Faroe Islands squad in February 2013 for a training camp held in Thailand and came on as a substitute in a friendly match against the Thailand U23 team. He made his official debut for the Faroe Islands in a World Cup qualifier against Ireland on 7 June 2013. Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands ( ), or simply the Faroes ( fo, Føroyar ; da, Færøerne ), are a North Atlantic island group and an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is a non-profit, marine conservation activism organization based in Friday Harbor, Washington, Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, Washington, in the United States. Hvannasund
Hvannasund ( da, Kvannesund, older spelling: ''Quannesund'') is a village and municipality in the Faroe Islands, an autonomous region in Denmark. Hvannasund is located on the west coast of the island of Viðoy. It faces Norðdepil on Borðoy. The villages are connected to each other by a causeway. A large cracked rock rests in an area just north of Hvannasund. An old legend details that the rock, called Skrudhettan, broke the very moment that Jesus was born. On 26 May 2008, the ocean inexplicably receded 2½ – 3 metres before suddenly hitting the area with great strength. A couple of days later, it was reported that a mini-tsunami had hit Hvannasund. There were no injuries or fatalities. Republic ( fo, Tjóðveldi), formerly known as the Republican Party ( fo, Tjóðveldisflokkurin) is a left-wing political party on the Faroe Islands committed to Faroese independence. History The party was founded in 1948 as a reaction to the islands failing to gain independence despite the outcome of the 1946 independence referendum, after which independence was subsequently declared but annulled by the Danish King. In 1998, Høgni Hoydal succeeded Heini O. Heinesen as party leader. During the 20 January 2004 legislative elections, the party won 21.7% of the popular vote and 8 out of 33 seats. However, after the passing of an amendment adding the term "sexual orientation" to paragraph 266b of the Anti-Discrimination Act, MP Karsten Hansen announced that he was leaving the party owing to a difference in opinion.
