Puzzle (Gianna Nannini Album)
''Puzzle'' is the sixth album by Gianna Nannini. It was released in 1984. The first single from the album, "Fotoromanza", was a summer hit and went on to win the Festivalbar, Vota la Voce and a Gold Telegatto Award. The music video was directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. The album went platinum in Italy, with "Fotoromanza" topping the charts in Italy, Switzerland and Austria. The European tour to promote the album culminated with a handful of very successful dates in Berlin, at the Montreaux Jazz Festival and in Cologne, resulted in the album ''Tutto Live'' (1985). Conny Plank
Konrad "Conny" Plank (3 May 1940 – 5 December 1987) was a German record producer and musician. He is known for his innovative work as a sound engineer and producer in Germany's krautrock and kosmische music scene in the 1970s. Plank was involved in releases by Neu!, Kraftwerk, Cluster, Harmonia, Ash Ra Tempel, Guru Guru, Kraan, and other German groups of the era. He later produced for new wave acts such as D.A.F., Eurythmics, and Ultravox. As a billed performer, Plank also formed the group Moebius & Plank, releasing 5 studio albums between 1979 and 1986. ''Latin Lover'' is the fifth album by Gianna Nannini. It was released in 1982 It is the first album made in collaboration with the German producer Conny Plank, and features prominent guest musicians such as Annie Lennox, Jaki Liebezeit and Annette Humpe. It performed well all around Europe, eventually becoming Gold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and Platinum in Italy. It was also distributed in Israel, Mexico, Paraguay, South Korea, and North America. In October of the same year, Nannini performed at the Rockpalast Essen stage alongside Kid Creole & The Coconuts and Little Steven. The Festivalbar was an Italian singing competition that took place in the most important Italian squares during summer, such as the Piazza del Duomo, Catania or Piazza Bra, Verona. The first edition took place in 1964 and was broadcast by RAI. The competition was held throughout the summer and the final round always took place at the Arena in Verona after 3-4 events in various cities of Italy. History Originally, the Festivalbar was a competition made with data from jukeboxes in Italian bars, so the competition was a one evening event transmitted by RAI. From 1983, Mediaset started to transmit this programme and the Festivalbar would change its location every week. The original promoter of the Festivalbar was Vittorio Salvetti. Telegatto (a composition of ''television'' and ''gatto'', meaning "cat", after the trophy, which is a little statue representing a cat), was an Italian television award first conceived in 1971 following the contest Gran Premio internazionale dello Spettacolo, though the first award ceremony wasn't held until 1984. It was sponsored by the weekly magazine ''TV Sorrisi e Canzoni'' and broadcast on Canale 5. The prize was a golden cat statue with the network's initials on its face. It was inspired by a cartoon from the television series ''Super Classifica Show'', a cult show in the 1980s and early 1990s. The award ceremony was cancelled in 2009.
