Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "Putnici" written by Edin Dervišhalidović. The song was performed by Dino and Béatrice. Dino is the artistic name of songwriter Edin Dervišhalidović. The Bosnian broadcaster Radio-Televizija Bosne i Hercegovine (RTVBiH) returned to the Eurovision Song Contest after a one-year absence following their relegation in 1998 as one of the six countries with the lowest average scores over the previous five contests. RTVBiH organised the national final ''Vaš šlager sezone 1999'' in order to select the Bosnian entry for 1999 contest in Jerusalem, Israel. Seventeen entries participated during the show on 6 March 1999 where nine regional juries initially selected "Starac i more" performed by Hari Mata Hari as the winner, however the entry was later disqualified due to the song having previously been released in Finland in 1997 with runner-up "Putnici" performed by Dino and Béatrice being replaced a ... Dino Merlin
Edin Dervišhalidović (; born 12 September 1962), known professionally as Dino Merlin (), is a Bosnian singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. Born in Sarajevo, he was the founder and leader of Merlin, which eventually became one of the best-selling rock-bands of Southeast Europe. Nicknamed "The Wizard", he is considered one of the most prominent and commercially successful artists ever to emerge from former Yugoslavia. Dino is recognized for his later solo work, which established him as one of the best-selling regional artists of all time. Alma Čardžić (; born 10 March 1968) is a Bosnian singer, best known internationally for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contests in 1994 and 1997. Biography Born in Maglaj she demonstrated a flair for music even as a child. When she was 15 years old, she was judged the best amateur at the ''Studentsko ljeto'' (Student Summer) festival. In 1992, she competed in Jugovizija 1992, with the song ''Ljubav će pobijediti'' where she achieved 10th place, and in 1993, she competed in the ''Bosanskohercegovačko takmičenje za pjesmu Evrovizije'' (Bosnia and Herzegovina Competition Song Contest) where she was placed second with the song ''Svi na ulice'' (Everybody on the street). Saša Lošić "Loša" (; born 19 July 1964) is a Bosnian recording artist. He initially rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of the Bosnian-based music act Plavi orkestar, which is one of the most popular music bands of the former Yugoslav Pop and Rock scene. He remains one of the most recognizable composers of the Balkans, and one of the most prominent musicians of the Balkan music scene. He lives in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
