Puteri Gunong Ledang (film)
''Puteri Gunong Ledang'' (or The Princess of Mount Ledang) is a 1961 Malay period film directed by S. Roomai Noor and based on the Legend of Puteri Gunung Ledang. The film introduces actress Elaine Edley in her first film role. Plot Sultan Mahmud Shah, ruler of Malacca, dreams of a woman with unnatural beauty. Plagued by the dream, he asks the court magician their meaning. The court magician tells him that his dream is that of an extraordinary princess who lives on the peak of Mount Ledang. ''Puteri Gunung Ledang'' is a 2004 Malaysian Epic film, epic Fantasy film, fantasy period film directed by Saw Teong Hin. The film is based on the Malay legend of the Legend of Puteri Gunung Ledang, Gunung Ledang princess, who is said to have lived on top of Mount Ophir, Gunung Ledang, and a Sultanate of Malacca, Malaccan sultan's effort to court her. The film stars Tiara Jacquelina (who also co-produces it alongside Shazalli Ramly), M. Nasir and Adlin Aman Ramlie. It was the first big-budget Malaysian movie ever made, with a production cost of US$4 million. ''Hikayat Hang Tuah'' ( Jawi: حکاية هڠ تواه) is a Malay work of literature that tells the tale of the legendary Malay fiction warrior, Hang Tuah and his four warrior friends - Hang Jebat, Hang Kasturi, Hang Lekir and Hang Lekiu - who lived during the height of the Sultanate of Malacca in the 15th century. The author is unknown, however, it has been accepted that it was written and rewritten by several different authors from different time periods in history with the aim to improvise the tale to fit the society at that certain periods of time. Hang Tuah ( Jawi: , /tuah/ or /toh/) is said to have been a warrior who lived in Malacca during the reign of Sultan Mansur Shah in the 15th century.
