Puteh Mohamed Alam
Pengiran Anak Puteh (born 19 January 1951), also referred to as Pengiran Puteh Alam, is a nobleman, diplomat and politician in the Government of Brunei whole formerly took office as the Ambassador of Brunei to the United States from 1997 to 2009, and Japan in 1986. As the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he participated in the formulation of policy regarding matters pertaining to international law, the South China Sea dispute, and the land and marine frontiers of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. His areas of expertise include international commercial arbitration, sports arbitration, investment arbitration, and international law. Cheteria
The Cheteria are a group of royal dignitaries within the Sultanate of Brunei whose position ranks below the Royal Wazir but above the Manteri. Each carry specialized tasks and report directly to the Sultan of Brunei. The Cheteria hierarchy is structured around what is known as the Four Fold system which expands up to 32 folds. The title of Cheteria are only bestowed upon the Pengiran, especially to the caste of Pengiran known as the Pengiran Peranakan. The awarding of such titles are held in a ceremony called "mengangkat". History The word ''cheteria'' likely derives from the name of the Kshatriya warrior caste in Hinduism. Pengiran Anak Hajji, Hajah Besar (24 September 1928 – 16 October 2016) was a member of the House of Bolkiah, royal family as the wife of Alam Abdul Rahman, Pengiran Anak Mohammad Alam and the mother of Pengiran Anak Saleha, the queen consort of Hassanal Bolkiah, the 29th Sultan of Brunei. Duties Pengiran Anak Besar was present at the royal solemnisation ceremony held on 17 June 2013, at Istana Mahkota, Kubang Kerian, in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, for Tengku Amalin A'ishah Putri, Tengku Amalin A'Ishah Putri and Prince Abdul Qawi of Brunei, Prince Abdul Qawi.
