Pustec Multilingual Road Signs
Pustec ( sq, Pustec; mk, Пустец) formerly known as Liqenas (1973–2013), is a village in Pustec Municipality, Korçë County, eastern Albania. Situated on the southwestern shore of Lake Prespa, it is home to much of the Macedonian minority in Albania. Geography Pustec is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Prespa and is the nearest village to the island of Maligrad. It sits at an elevation of above sea level. To the northeast, along the lake, lies Shulin, while in the southeast is the village of Leska. Pustec and the surrounding region lie within the Prespa National Park. History The village of Pustec was mentioned in the Slepche Beadroll from the 16th century. The survey by Dimitar Mishev (D. Brancoff) from 1905 shows that the inhabitants of the village of Pustec ( bg, Пустец) were in the bosom of the Bulgarian Exarchate. There were 400 Bulgarian Exarchists in the village. Maligrad
Maligrad ( sq, Maligrad, also ''Qytet i Vogël'' "small city"; mk, Мал Град, ''Mal Grad'' "small city/town") is an island situated deep within the Albanian part of Lake Prespa, with many caves suitable for wildlife and a circular cliff. Shaped like a tadpole, it contains some trees and an area of sand. The island contains a famous Saint Mary Church, built by Kesar Novak (Qesar Novaku), a local noble, in 1369. It has an area of almost 5 hectares. Macedonian Party
The Macedonian Alliance for European Integration (Macedonian Party) ( mk, Македонска Алијанса за Европска Интеграција sq, Aleanca Maqedonase për Integrimin Europian) is a political party of the ethnic Macedonians in Albania. It was established on 30 October 2004 under the name ''Macedonian Alliance for European Integration'' and was registered as a political party on 8 June 2005. The first president of the party was Edmond Temelko, who was the mayor of the Pustec Municipality from 2007 until 2019. It first succeeded in electing an ethnic Macedonian to parliament in 2019, Vasil Sterjovski. Sterjovski himself was elected as the president of the party in September 2019.
