Pussycat (band)
Pussycat was a Dutch country and pop group led by the three Veldpaus-sisters: Toni, Betty, and Marianne. Other members of the band were guitarists Lou Willé (Toni's then-husband), Theo Wetzels, Theo Coumans, and John Theunissen. Their song "Mississippi" was a #1 hit in most European countries, including the UK, in 1975/76. Career Prior to forming the band, the three sisters were telephone operators in Limburg, whilst Theunissen, Wetzles, and Coumans were in a group called Scum. Lou Willé played in a group called Ricky Rendall and His Centurions until he married Toni, and created the group Sweet Reaction that eventually became known as Pussycat. In 1975 they scored a big European hit with the song "Mississippi". However they had to wait a further year for the single to make the British charts when it climbed to number one in the UK Singles Chart in October 1976. Lesley Gore
Lesley Sue Goldstein (May 2, 1946 – February 16, 2015), known professionally as Lesley Gore, was an American singer, songwriter, actress, and activist. At the age of 16, she recorded the pop music, pop hit "It's My Party (Lesley Gore song), It's My Party", a US number one in 1963. She followed it up with ten further ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' top 40 hits including "Judy's Turn to Cry" and "You Don't Own Me". Gore later worked as an actress and television personality. Pussycat Theaters
The Pussycat Theaters were a chain of adult movie theaters, operating between the 1960s and the 1980s. Pussycat Theaters had 30 locations in California and were known for their cat-girl logo. To date, only one exists. History David F. Friedman and Dan Sonney founded Pussycat Theaters. Dan Sonney invented the name, based on Woody Allen film ''What's New Pussycat''. Friedman has also cited the Pink Pussycat burlesque club on Santa Monica Boulevard as having previously established the word "pussycat" in relation to "pink" porn, since the early 1960s. The first Pussycat Theater opened in March 1966 on 444 South Hill Street, Los Angeles. Within two years, there were almost a dozen locations, from San Diego to San Francisco. Pussycat is a fictional comic book character who originally appeared in black-and-white strips printed in men's magazines published by Magazine Management Company between 1965 and 1972. During this period Martin Goodman was publisher for both Magazine Management and Marvel Comics; as a result in 1968 a magazine format compilation of Pussycat's adventures was published as a one-off title, ''The Adventures of Pussycat''. The stories revolved around innuendo and other risqué humour, though they featured only very brief nudity. ''Robot Wars'' is a robot combat competition that was broadcast on British television from 1998 to 2004 and from 2016 to 2018. Philip Gudthaykudthay (pronounced "g'day, g'day"; 1935 or earlier – October 2022), also known as Pussycat, was an Aboriginal Australian artist. His work is held in many public galleries in Australia and internationally, including the British Museum. Early life Philip Gudthaykudthay was born south of Ramingining, near Mulgurrum in central Arnhem Land, in the Northern Territory of Australia around 1935 or possibly earlier; some sources suggest the 1920s). His father was Lika, brother of Miyalan, and his mother Ganinydja 1, of the Djardewitjibi group. After both parents died, he was adopted by a Murrungun clan family.
