Purwokerto is a large but non-autonomous town on the island of Java, Indonesia. It is the capital of Banyumas Regency, Central Java province. The population of the four districts which comprise the town at the 2010 census was 233,951 and 229,271 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2021 was 230,235. Geography Purwokerto is located in the middle of Java Island within the province of Central Java, near the base of Mount Slamet, the second-tallest mountain in Java. The average elevation is 183,87 meters, maximum 286 m, and minimum 71 meters above sea level. The city is bisected by the Kali Kranji (Kranji River). Banyumas Regency
Banyumas ( jv, ꦧꦚꦸꦩꦱ꧀, formerly spelt "Banjoemas") Regency is a regency ( id, kabupaten) in the southwestern part of Central Java province in Indonesia. Its capital is the town of Purwokerto, but that town no longer has a central administration and is split over four of the districts within the Regency, with a combined population of 230,235 as at mid 2021. The Regency covers an area of 1,327.59 km2, and had a population of 1,554,527 at the 2010 Census and 1,776,918 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate of population as at mid 2021 was 1,789,630. Pancuran Pitu
Pancuran Tujuh ( jv, Pancuran Pitu, both meaning "Seven Springs") is a hot spring located on the slopes of Mount Slamet in Baturraden District, Banyumas, Central Java. Discovered, according to local legend, by a Muslim missionary known as Mbah Atas Angin, the hot spring and its sulfuric waters are considered to have healing properties. Location Pancuran Tujuh is located in Kemutung Lor Village, Baturraden District, Banyumas, Central Java, amidst a pine forest on the slopes of Mount Slamet. It is situated some to the west of the Baturraden Tourist Resort, and about north of the city of Purwokerto. Gatot Soebroto ( Enhanced Spelling: Gatot Subroto, 10 October 1907 – 11 June 1962) was an Indonesian general who began his military career with the Royal Dutch East Indies Army (KNIL) and rose to be deputy Army chief-of-staff.
