Purr-Chance To Dream
''Purr-Chance to Dream'' is a 1967 short and the final ''Tom and Jerry'' short produced under MGM Animation/Visual Arts, and was directed by Ben Washam and produced by Chuck Jones. This is the final short of the original ''Tom and Jerry'' series until 2001's '' The Mansion Cat'', and the final theatrical ''Tom and Jerry'' short of the entire franchise until 2005's '' The Karate Guard''. Plot Tom wakes up after a nightmare of being turned into a nail-shape and pounded into the ground by a giant bulldog. When he sees Jerry catching a bone, he flicks the bone with his finger and then Jerry wallops him on the head with it and runs off, stopping at a giant dog house. When Tom approaches it, he realises it wasn't a dream and runs off in horror. Instead, a small bulldog (first seen in '' The Cat's Me-Ouch!'') comes out. Ben Washam
Benjamin Alfred Washam (March 17, 1915 – March 28, 1984) was an American animator who is best known for working under director Chuck Jones for nearly 30 years. According to his World War II draft registration, he was born in Newport, Jackson County, Arkansas. Career Washam worked at Warner Bros. Cartoons from at least 1936 until 1963, mainly under the direction of Chuck Jones. First working as an inbetweener, he quickly rose up the ranks to animator. From 1944 to 1945, he worked at UPA for the films ''Hell-Bent for Election'' and ''Brotherhood of Man''. He also worked on made-for-television cartoons in the early 1960s. After Jones was fired from Warner Bros., Washam (with other animators working under Jones there) joined him at MGM. Washam also directed a few Tom and Jerry cartoons for release in 1967. Metrocolor
Metrocolor is the trade name used by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) for films processed at their laboratory. Virtually all of these films were shot on Kodak's Eastmancolor film. Although MGM used Kodak film products, MGM did not use all of Kodak's processes, and could not call their final product Eastmancolor. Kodak's products were used by MGM instead of having their film processed by Technicolor. MGM owned its own lab, located on its Culver City, California lot until 1986, when it was sold by then-owner Ted Turner to Lorimar, which then sold it to a consortium including Technicolor. ''The Bear That Wasn't'' is a 1967 American animated short film directed by Chuck Jones and based on the children's book ''The Bear That Wasn't'' by Frank Tashlin. It was produced and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer under its MGM Animation/Visual Arts division. Production The film was directed by Frank Tashlin's former Warner Bros. Cartoons colleague, Chuck Jones. Maurice James Noble (May 1, 1911 – May 18, 2001) was an American animation production designer, background artist and layout designer whose contributions to the industry spanned more than 60 years. Directed by Joseph Barbera (''Tom and Jerry'' co-creator and co-founder of Hanna-Barbera) and Spike Brandt, ''The Karate Guard'' was the last ''Tom and Jerry'' cartoon that Barbera worked on before his death in 2006.
