Villa Purificación
Villa Purificación is a town and municipality, in Jalisco in central-western Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 1,848 km². As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 10,975. History In 1532 Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán sent Captain Juan Fernández de Híjar to the province of El Tuito and crowned them to look for a place in order to found a villa. In this virtue, Fernández de Híjar with 25 soldiers marched south and founded on February 2, 1533 the Villa of Purification in the valley of Tecomatlán and also established the first chapel in the now state of Jalisco. Upon the arrival of the Spaniards, Purification belonged to a small province populated by Indians from Saulam, or Sayula, formed by the villages of Tenzitlán, Xirosto, Jew, Pampochin, Amborí, La Silla, Cuxmalán, Carrion and Melahuacan as the headboard. The Federal League (), also known as the League of the Free Peoples (), was an alliance of provinces in what is now Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil that aimed to establish a confederal organization for the state that was emerging from the May Revolution in the war of independence against the Spanish Empire. Purificación Ortiz (Campo de Criptana, 1972) is a paralympic athlete from Spain competing mainly in category F11 (totally blind) long jump and sprint events. Biography Purificación competed in three Paralympic games, first in 1988 then in 1992 in her home country and finally 1996. At her first games she finished fifth in the B1 long jump. Purificación Campos Sánchez (18 August 1937 – 19 November 2019), better known as Purita Campos, was a Spanish cartoonist, illustrator and painter. Life Campos was born in Barcelona in 1937. She trained in fine arts at the Llotja de Barcelona, and she also trained as an actress, at the Theater Institute. She worked for the Bruguera publishing house with the character of ''Lily''. Campos began working in 1971 for English magazines, specifically comic strips written by Philip Douglas. From the 1970s onwards, her long-running comics strips included ' (''Esther y su mundo'' in Spanish), which she and Douglas created ''Patty's World'' for '' Princess Tina'' magazine. The strip was so popular that it ended up as a regular feature of the girls' magazine published by Oberon publishing house, which were published in Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany. She has served as an ambassador to several countries, including Cameroon, Chad, the United States, and Spain. Dedicating her life to defending the rights of women and children, she has made a significant impact in policymaking and gender equality advocacy. Purificacion Santamarta is a paralympic athlete from Spain competing mainly in category T11 sprint events. Biography Purificacion has competed in seven Paralympics winning a total of 16 medals eleven of them gold. Her first games were way back in 1980 where she competed in the 60m and 400m winning the class A silver medal in the 400m. In 1984 she competed in the long jump and won the gold medal in both the 100m and 400m. Her third games were in Seoul in 1988 where she won defended her 100m title and won silver medals in the 400m and long jump. The 1992 Summer Paralympics were in front of her home crowd and she didn't disappoint them winning her third consecutive 100m title and adding 200m, 400m and 800m golds.
