Pure FM (Portsmouth)
Pure FM is the call sign for Portsmouth University Radio Experience, the student-led radio station for the University of Portsmouth. As a student media of the University of Portsmouth Students' Union, the station is supported by the union and is housed within the Student Centre on Cambridge Road. History Pure FM was launched in 1994. Awards In 2008 at the Student Radio Association Conference in Bath, Ben Burrell won the very first ever Demo Idol. In 2012, Dan Jackson and Murray Grindon were shortlisted for the Best Entertainment Programming category at the Student Radio Awards. In April 2013 at the Student Radio Association Conference in Leicester, Glen Scott picked up Volunteer of the Year at the I Love Student Radio Awards. In November 2013, Glen Scott picked up the Gold Award for Best Male Presenter at the National Student Radio Awards 2013. Portsmouth ( ) is a port and city in the ceremonial county of Hampshire in southern England. The Student Radio Association (SRA) is a representative body which supports and acts on behalf of the UK student radio community, comprising radio stations that are associated with or linked to a place of education. It is a not-for-profit organisation, which exists to encourage and facilitate communication between student stations. It was dissolved by Companies House in May 2018, but was reincorporated on 30 August 2019 as the Student Radio Association Ltd Ltd. History The SRA was formed following the liquidation of the National Association of Student Broadcasting (NASB), which was formed as a limited company on 5 August 1988. NASB, a Private company limited by guarantee, was dissolved in January 2002, although had collapsed as a business in 1991. That year saw the creation of the SRA as a community. Capital is a network of twelve Independent Local Radio, independent contemporary hit radio stations in the United Kingdom, broadcasting a mix of local and networked programming. Nine of the stations are owned and operated by Global Media & Entertainment, while the other three are owned and operated under separate franchise agreements. KMFM is a network of radio stations that was formed from the merger of seven Independent Local Radio stations and one digital station (on the Kent Digital Multiplex) owned by the KM Group, broadcasting to the county of Kent in the United Kingdom. Whilst the station broadcasts as one countywide station, it is officially eight separate licenses. KMFM offers its listeners local news and music. Absolute Radio is a British National radio station owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Absolute Radio Network.
