Pure Bathing Culture
Pure Bathing Culture is an American indie pop band from Portland, Oregon, United States. Career The group's members, Sarah Versprille and Daniel Hindman, first met while college students in New Jersey, they lived in Brooklyn, New York and both moved to Portland, Oregon in 2011, playing in the group Vetiver. Around 2012 they began playing live shows, and released an EP produced by Richard Swift in 2012 on Father/Daughter Records. The band toured in the US opening for Caveman and Father John Misty. The band released its first album on Partisan Records in 2013. The album was highlighted by the single, "Pendulum", which some critics likened in style to Fleetwood Mac. One of the tracks, "Scotty", drew its lyrics and melody in part from the 1980 hit single " Into the Night" by Benny Mardones. Touring for this release included a full US tour opening for Widowspeak, followed by co-headline tour with La Luz and another full US tour opening for Tennis in the fall of 2014. The band ... Widowspeak is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York City, United States. They are currently signed to Captured Tracks. The band consists of guitarist and vocalist Molly Hamilton and guitarist Robert Earl Thomas. History The band formed in Brooklyn in 2010 by Tacoma, Washington natives Molly Hamilton and her friend Michael Stasiak, who have known each other since they were teenagers. The pair met with guitarist Robert Earl Thomas and began practicing together. The band released their debut album ''Widowspeak (Widowspeak album), Widowspeak'' in August 2011 to critical acclaim. Tucker Martine (born January 14, 1972) is an American record producer, musician and composer. In 2010, ''Paste'' Magazine included Martine in their list of the 10 Best Producers of the Decade. Early life Tucker Martine, the son of singer and songwriter Layng Martine Jr., grew up in Nashville, Tennessee where he played in bands and tinkered with recording devices before moving to Boulder, Colorado upon graduating from high school. In Colorado, Martine was a DJ at a public radio station KGNU. He would frequently play two or more records at once on the air. Martine also took courses at the Naropa Institute where he studied sound collage and befriended Harry Smith - the ethnomusicologist, artist and Kabbalist - who made a large impression on Martine.
