Puppetry Art Center Of Taipei
The Puppetry Art Center of Taipei (PACT; ) is an arts center in Songshan District, Taipei, Taiwan. History In 1998, Lin Ching-fu, chairperson of the Taiyuan Arts and Culture Foundation, donated his personal collection of puppets which he had been collecting over years to Taipei City Government. The center was then planned by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the city government. The center was eventually opened on 7 August 2004. Architecture The center is divided into four areas, which are glove puppets, string puppets, shadow puppets and interactive games. Activities The center regularly holds puppet shows and educational puppetry classes, including puppet making workshop. Transportation The center is accessible within walking distance southwest of Nanjing Sanmin Station of Taipei Metro. Songshan District, Taipei
Songshan District is a district of Taipei, Taiwan. The Songshan Airport and the Taipei Arena are located here. History Songshan was originally named Malysyakkaw, a lowland Ketagalan word meaning "Where the river twists". Its written form () was abbreviated () in 1815 during Qing rule. During Japanese rule (1895-1945), the area served as a prime tea-growing area in northern Taiwan. In 1920, the area's settlements were established as , Shichisei District, Taihoku Prefecture. The Taipei City Government (TCG) is the municipal government of Taipei. History The Taihoku City Government was founded on 10 October 1920 in Taihoku Prefecture during Japanese colonial rule. The original city hall was located at the site of the Taihoku City Hall (modern-day Zhongshan Hall) in Zhongzheng District. After Taiwan was handed over to the Republic of China on 25 October 1945, Taipei became a provincial municipality and was renamed to Taipei City Government even though the city was the capital city of Taiwan Province but it moved to Zhongxing New Village from 1956.
