Punter To Punter
''Punter to Punter'' is a 1980s Australian radio show that ran on 3RRR for five years and then on 3XY for three and was reformed in 1990 on FOX-FM as ''The Punters''. The main cast was Mitchell Faircloth as Slim Whittle, John Rothfield as Dr. Turf and Tony Rickards as Con Marasco. The show grew out of a 1980 racing tips segment on a morning sports show that featured Simon Thorpe and Rickards as Vince and Con Marasco. Faircloth joined them and they got their own show which began in 1981 by Thorpe, Rickards and Faircloth, with Rothfield joining as a special guest and soon moving up to being a regular. 3RRR
3RRR (pronounced "Three Triple R", or simply "Triple R") is an Australian community radio station, based in Melbourne. 3RRR first commenced broadcasting in 1976 from the studios of 3ST, the student radio station of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (now RMIT University), on an educational licence with the name 3RMT. In 1979 it relocated to Fitzroy, and adopted its present name. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, it became synonymous with the post punk and new wave subcultures. In late 2004, supporters raised enough money for the station to purchase and move into new premises on the corner of Blyth and Nicholson Streets in Brunswick East after the 20-year lease on their previous studios, in Victoria St, Fitzroy, expired. 3RRR's mission statement was defined in 1990 as "To educate, inform and entertain by drawing upon appropriate community resources. Fox FM (Melbourne Radio Station)
Fox FM (call sign: 3FOX) is a commercial FM radio station broadcasting in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on a frequency of 101.9 MHz, and is the flagship station on Southern Cross Austereo's Hit Network. The station's transmitter is shared with the ATV-10 transmitter on top of Mount Dandenong. History Fox FM started life at 5PM on 1 August 1980. The station was put together by radio consultant and 1960s/1970s radio personality and programmer Rhett H. Walker, who also acted as first General Manager. This followed a successful stint for Walker as a consultant for Radio 3KZ in 1979. One of Fox FM's original advertising lines was 'Catch the Fox'. Trevor Marmalade (born Jason van de Velde, 26 April 1962) is an Australian comedian and radio and television presenter. Marmalade is of Dutch people, Dutch descent and grew up in the Melbourne suburb of Surrey Hills, Victoria, Surrey Hills.
