Punta Islita Airport
Islita Airport is an airport that serves the communities of Punta Islita in the Nandayure Canton of Costa Rica. The airport is at the village of Corozalito, east of Punta Islita. It is the main access to a series of secluded beaches in southern Nicoya Peninsula. The airport is owned by a private administrator and currently has four weekly scheduled flights from Juan Santamaría International Airport, San José and Nosara Airport, Nosara. On December 31, 2017, a plane operated by Nature Air 2017 Nature Air Cessna 208 Caravan crash, crashed shortly after takeoff from Punta Islita. Punta Islita
Punta Islita is a resort town in the Nandayure Canton, Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. The Punta Islita Airport is located in the nearby town of Corozalito. Punta Islita is home to the Hotel Punta Islita. The hotel was designed by Ronald Zürcher, built in 1994. There is also a music school in the community. The village has houses and murals with Naïve art, naive paintings and mosaics. There is a souvenir shop in Punta Islita featuring locally produced artwork. The town is framed by cliffs, creating a halfmoon bay. It is named after the small area of land that becomes an island at high tide. In December 2017, ten American tourists and two pilots were killed in a plane crash in Punta Islita. References
