Charlotte High School is a historic public high school in Punta Gorda, Florida, Punta Gorda, Florida, United States serving ninth grade, ninth to twelfth grade students. The school is part of the Charlotte County Public Schools district, with admission based primarily on the locations of students' homes. Established in 1926, Charlotte High is located at 1250 Cooper Street. The school carries the slogan of "Charlotte County's First and Finest" since it remained the only high school in Charlotte County, Florida, Charlotte County for many years until its top rival schools, Port Charlotte High School and Lemon Bay High School, were built. With 1,596 students, Charlotte High School is the largest high school in Charlotte County by student population. Charlotte County is a U.S. county located in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 186,847. Its county seat is Punta Gorda. Charlotte County comprises the Punta Gorda, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the North Port-Sarasota, FL Combined Statistical Area. Punta Gorda Atlantic Coast Line Depot
The Punta Gorda Atlantic Coast Line Depot is a historic Atlantic Coast Line Railroad depot in Punta Gorda, Florida, United States. It is located at 1009 Taylor Road. Owned and maintained by the Punta Gorda Historical Society, the building houses a Black history exhibit and an antique mall. On December 12, 1990, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. History The Atlantic Coast Line Railroad built the depot in 1928 as one of many investments it made to its railroad network during the Florida land boom of the 1920s. It served as Punta Gorda's third passenger rail depot, replacing earlier depots built by the Atlantic Coast Line's predecessor the Florida Southern Railway. Punta Gorda Residential District
The Punta Gorda Residential District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on January 7, 1991) located in Punta Gorda, Florida. The district is bounded by West Retta Esplanade, Berry Street, West Virginia Avenue and Taylor Street. History Twenty-two city blocks are included in the National Register District, which extends west from the city's commercial core and contains 125 mostly residential structures. The noteworthy era for the district was 1884 to 1930 with both wood-frame vernacular buildings and American Queen Anne style architecture, built during the mid-1880s through the late 1910s.
