Punk Rock Payroll
Punk Rock Payroll is an American independent record label based in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The label was founded in 2003 by Frede Zimmer as a merchandise company, and houses Philadelphia artists The Extraordinaires, Lux Perpetua, Dangerous Ponies, The Armchairs, and Kill You in the Face. History Punk Rock Payroll began in 2003 as the brainchild of current CEO Frede Zimmer. Originally, the company was run out of a 2-bedroom apartment belonging to Zimmer and his wife Misty. Zimmer started his business making buttons, screenprinting album covers, and producing merchandise for local bands and other labels. In 2004, Zimmer discovered Jay Purdy and Matt Gibson of The Extraordinaires, and is quoted as saying that it was "the natural progression of things" to expand the company into its own label. An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. The labels and artists are often represented by trade associations in their country or region, which in turn are represented by the international trade body, the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN). Many of the labels started as producers and distributors of specific genres of music, such as jazz music, or represent something new and non-mainstream, such as Elvis Presley in the early days. Lux Perpetua (band)
Lux Perpetua is a Polish power metal band founded in 2003 by Paweł Zasadzki, Tomasz Sałaciński, and Emil Łazarski. History The band was founded in 2009 in Podkowa Leśna by Paweł Zasadzki. After recording some songs (including "The Legend" and "An Old Bard"), the band started playing their first shows. Lux Perpetua recorded their first EP, ''Forever We Stand'', in Red Yeti Studio and released it in 2014. Marcin Rykiel and Emil Łazarski later left the band, and Artur Rosiński joined as their new vocalist. The group then began recording their debut album, ''The Curse of the Iron King'', in HZ Studio near Warsaw. In the meantime, the band signed an agreement with Insignis Publishing Company to perform a song and record a video for Robert J. Szmidt's book ''Wieża''. The Armchairs
The Armchairs was a psychedelic rock band based in Philadelphia consisting of Michael Chadwick on keys, guitar and vocals, Michael Harkness on drums, Andy Molholt on guitar, keys and vocals, and Andrew Morris on bass. The band formed in 2007 when primary songwriters Molholt and Chadwick, then roommates at Columbia College, relocated to Philadelphia. In 2008 Harkness and Morris, then roommates at the University of the Arts, completed the line-up and the group started to perform steadily in the area. During the next three years the band gradually became a notable band in Philadelphia music scene with a cult following throughout the region and into the rest of the east coast and Midwestern United States.
