Pulse (nightclub)
Pulse was a gay bar, dance club, and nightclub in Orlando, Florida, founded in 2004 by Barbara Poma and Ron Legler. On June 12, 2016, the club was the scene of the second worst mass shooting by a single gunman in U.S. history, and the second deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since the events of September 11, 2001. Forty-nine people were killed and 53 other people were injured. Description Pulse hosted themed performances each night and had a monthly program featuring educational events geared towards the LGBT community. Pulse Memorial And Museum
The National Pulse Memorial and Museum is a planned memorial and museum commemorating victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting at Pulse in 2016, originally planned to open in 2022. In 2021 the site was designated by Congress as a national memorial. Temporary memorial efforts In an effort to honor the 49 victims and to memorialize the location surrounding the Pulse Nightclub building, the City of Orlando dedicated $4,518 to erect a barrier fence to fulfill this purpose.
