Pulat
Pult or Pulat ( sq-definite, Pulti or Pulati), is a region in northern Albania. It is bordered by the Malësia Region to its north and by the Dukagjin Highlands to its east and its south. The region has traditionally been inhabited by the Plani, Kiri, Suma, Xhani, Drishti and Rrjolli tribes. The Pult region is situated on the Kir river and extends beyond Drisht to Prekal. Name The name has evolved with accordance with the evolution of the phonetic system of Albanian from the ancient name ''Pólatum''. History In 1332, two Albanian-inhabited towns were recorded in the Pult region; ''Polatum Maius'' ("Greater Pult") and ''Polatum Minus'' ("Lesser Pult"). The Dukagjini family ruled the region during the Middle Ages, and Pult was therefore part of the Principality of Dukagjini. Diocese Of Pulati
The Diocese of Pult (Latin Pulati) ( la, Dioecesis Pulatensis) was a Latin Catholic diocese in northern Albania until abolished in 2005, when it was merged into the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Shkodër-Pult. History The bishopric was founded circa 900, without precursor jurisdiction. Many incumbents were Italian and/or member of a missionary regular order. Some came from another see, more were transferred or promoted elsewhere. The alleged first Bishop of Pulati (877) was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Dioclea. After the overthrow of Dioclea, the bishops of Pulati were Suffragans of the Greek Archdiocese of Salonica (Thessalonica). During the tenth century, and even later, Pulati is not mentioned. Dukagjini Family
The Dukagjini are an Albanian feudal noble family who ruled over an area of Northern Albania and Western Kosovo known as the Principality of Dukagjini in the 14th and 15th centuries. They may have been relatives or descendants of the earlier Progoni, who founded the first Albanian state in recorded history, the Principality of Arbanon. The city of Lezhë was their most important holding. The Dukagjini evolved from an extended clan ('' farefisni'') to a feudal family in the late 13th century, when their first known progenitor Gjin Tanushi who became known as a dux (duke) and thus his descendants took the surname Dukagjini. The Albanians (; sq, Shqiptarët ) are an ethnic group and nation native to the Balkan Peninsula who share a common Albanian ancestry, culture, history and language. Saint Barbara ( grc, Ἁγία Βαρβάρα; cop, Ϯⲁⲅⲓⲁ Ⲃⲁⲣⲃⲁⲣⲁ; ; ), known in the Eastern Orthodox Church as the Great Martyr Barbara, was an Early Christianity, early Christian Lebanese and Greek saint and martyr. Peter Spani (League Of Lezhë)
Peter Spani ( sq, Pjetër Spani; 1430–1457) was a Catholic Albanian nobleman and Venetian pronoier in the first half of the 15th century. His family's domains included territories around Shkodër (Scutari), Drisht (Drivasto) and western Kosovo. He ruled over Shala, Shosh, Nikaj-Mërtur (Lekbibaj) and Pult; the whole region under the Ottomans took his name, Petrişpan-ili (literally, 'dominions of Pjetër Shpani'). Between 1444 and 1455, Peter was a member of the League of Lezhë and after his death, the League took his territories. The Principality of Dukagjini ( sq, Principata e Dukagjinit) refers to the domains (''zotërimet'') of the Albanians, Albanian Dukagjini family in northern Albania and wester part of the modern-day territory of Kosovo in the 14th century and 15th century. At their maximum extent, the domains of the Dukagjini extended from Upper Zadrima in the northwest to the Rrafshi i Dukagjinit, Plain of Dukagjini in western Kosovo.
