Puerto Rico Museum Of Contemporary Art
The Puerto Rico Museum of Contemporary Art, often abbreviated to MAC, is a contemporary art museum in Santurce, Puerto Rico. History The museum was founded by artists and sponsors of the civil society and was officially instituted on October 8, 1984 as a non-profit organization. After its incorporation, the Museum offered its services in public spaces like Plaza Las Américas and amongst offices of known contributors. In 1988, the University of the Sacred Heart granted the museum a provisional home free of charge at the Magdalena Sofía Barat building. After 15 years, the museum officially petitioned the government to grant them the Labra Historical Building in Santurce. Noemí Ruiz
Noemí Ruiz is a Puerto Rican painter, graphic artist and teacher. She is said to be a pioneer of abstraction in Puerto Rico. Her works can be found in many significant collections, and she has represented Puerto Rico in many international exhibitions. Education Noemí Ruiz studied at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico in San Germán, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Education and Arts Administration degree in 1953. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University in 1956. At NYU, she studied painting, art education, supervision and administration. Ruiz also began experimentation with abstract art under George McNeil in the 1960s. Daniel Lind-Ramos
Daniel Lind-Ramos (born 1953) is an Afro-Puerto Ricans, African-Puerto Rican painter and sculptor who lives and works in Puerto Rico. Life Lind-Ramos was born in 1953 in Loíza, Puerto Rico, Loíza, a coastal town in Puerto Rico. He studied painting at the University of Puerto Rico in 1975 and in 1980 he graduated from New York University, NYU with a master’s of art degree. In addition to his studio practice, Lind-Ramos also currently teaches in the Humanities Department at the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao. Artistic practice Lind-Ramos paints on canvas with oil using traditional and uncommon applications techniques from brushes to spatulas.
