Puerto Rico Highway 65
Puerto Rico Highway 65 (PR-65) is a short highway connecting Puerto Rico Highway PR-239, also locally known as Alfonso Valdés Cobián Boulevard (formerly known as Calle Post and PR-2R) near University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, to Puerto Rico Highway 106. It has not an intersection to the main highway PR-2, but can be accessed quickly going west of the alt route. It is also the main highway to the ''Palacio de Recreación y Deportes'' (Sports and Recreation Palace) and to the Parque de los Próceres. Mayagüez Barrio-pueblo
Mayagüez barrio-pueblo is a barrio and the administrative center (seat) of Mayagüez, a municipality of Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 26,903. As was customary in Spain, in Puerto Rico, the municipality has a barrio called '' pueblo'' which contains a central plaza, the municipal buildings (city hall), and a Catholic church. Miradero is a barrio in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The US census of 2010 reports a population of 5,724. The total land area the barrio is about . It is one of fifteen rural inland barrios of Mayagüez. History Miradero was in Spain's gazetteers until Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Miradero was 1,268. The name means vantage point, or lookout. The rural barrio of Miradero, today more suburban, next to the city suggests and describes a place to see and admire. The University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (UPRM) or Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez (RUM) in Spanish (also referred to as Colegio and CAAM in allusion to its former name), is a public land-grant university in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The Palacio de Recreación y Deportes German Wilkins Vélez Ramírez is a coliseum located in the city of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. It has capacity for 5,500 spectators. It was remodeled in preparation for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. In March 2008, José Guillermo Rodríguez, mayor of the city, announced in a concert given by Wilkins Vélez, Wilkins that after the Central American and Caribbean Games the arena would have the name of Germán Wilkins Vélez Ramírez, commonly known as "Wilkins". The Parque de los Próceres is a park in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. In 1977 the mayor of Mayagüez, Don Benjamín Cole obtained a grant from the Economic Development Administration of the United States Department of Commerce for the construction of the "Parque de los Próceres Puertorriqueños". The park is located in the banks of the Yagüez River between roads PR-108 and PR-65. The name of the park is Spanish for "Puerto Rican Patriots Park".
