Pud Graham
Walter A. "Pud" Graham (1936 - 2011) was a state legislator in Mississippi. He served in the Mississippi Senate including as President Pro Tempore of the Mississippi Senate from 1992 to 1996. He lived in New Albany. A Democrat, he eventually became a Republican. Clarion-Ledger
''The Clarion Ledger'' is an American daily newspaper in Jackson, Mississippi. It is the second-oldest company in the state of Mississippi, and is one of the few newspapers in the nation that continues to circulate statewide. It is an operating division of Gannett River States Publishing Corporation, owned by Gannett. History The paper traces its roots to ''The Eastern Clarion,'' founded in Jasper County, Mississippi, in 1837. Later that year, it was sold and moved to Meridian, Mississippi. After the American Civil War, it was moved to Jackson, the capital, and merged with ''The Standard''. It soon became known as ''The Clarion''. In 1888, ''The Clarion'' merged with the ''State Ledger'' and became known as the ''Daily Clarion-Ledger''. Four employees who were displaced by the merger founded their own newspaper, ''The Jackson Evening Post'', in 1892. Mississippi Senate
The Mississippi Senate is the upper house of the Mississippi Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Mississippi. The Senate, along with the lower Mississippi House of Representatives, convenes at the Mississippi State Capitol in Jackson. The Senate is composed of 52 senators representing an equal number of constituent districts, with 57,063 people per district (2010 figures). In the current legislative session, the Republican Party holds 36 seats while the Democratic Party holds 16 seats, creating a Republican trifecta in the state government. Nickey Reed Browning (born July 19, 1951) is a former Republican member of the Mississippi Senate, having represented the 3rd District in northeastern Mississippi from 1996 to 2020. Early life and education Browning was born on July 19, 1951, in Ponotoc, Mississippi. He attended Northeast Mississippi Community College and graduated from Mississippi State University. Political career On March 27, 2013, Browning switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party. He did not file for re-election in 2020. Personal life Browning is a member of the Lions Club. He is a Methodist. He resides in Ecru in Pontotoc County, near Tupelo, Mississippi.
