Psychofagist
Psychofagist (pronounced ''sahy-kohf-uh-jist'', from Ancient Greek element psykho- meaning "mind, mental" and Latin suffix -phagus or -fagus meaning "to eat") is a band originally formed in 2002 in Novara, Italy. Their style can be described as an avant-garde grindcore which incorporates elements of noise music, technical death metal, punk jazz and free improvisation. Psychofagist recorded two full-length studio albums, four split-CDs, one CD-EP and one 7"-EP. Their debut was a split-CD with Belgian grindcore band Hybrid Viscery, entitled ''Selfless Spite'' (2003), while their first self-titled full-length album was released in 2004. It was followed by some split and EP releases, until the follower ''Il Secondo Tragico'' came out in December 2009. OvO (band)
OvO is an Italian noise rock duo formed by Stefania Pedretti and Bruno Dorella in 2000 in Ravenna, Italy. The two initially planned for the band to be totally improvisation-based with an open lineup. After encouragement from members of their local music scene to become a band and tour, they decided to do so in order to play with Cock ESP, an extreme noise band from Minneapolis. Since, the pair have released eight full-length albums on a variety of international record labels including Load Records, Dio Drone, Bar La Muerte, and Supernatural Cat, among others. The origin of the band's name, OvO, stems from using a piece of the Italian word ''"nuovo"'', or new, which creates a palindrome. Decibel Magazine summarizes OvO's 2016 album, ''Creatura'', as "making rhythmic, layered, sludgy noise" and a "David Lynch dance party". Philip Hansen Anselmo (born June 30, 1968) is an American heavy metal vocalist best known as the lead singer for Pantera, Down, and Superjoint, amongst other musical projects. He is the owner of Housecore Records. Anselmo is regarded as one of the greatest frontmen in metal history, known for being particularly animated and donning a machismo attitude that became emblematic of the general theme of Pantera. Earlier in his career with the band, Anselmo took considerable inspiration from heavy metal vocalists such as Rob Halford, singing in full head voice. Fuck the Facts is a Canadian Juno-nominated, grindcore band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, formed in 1998. They began as the solo recording project of musician Topon Das. Their earliest recording was in January 1997; they began using the name Fuck the Facts in 1998. After many early recordings, including split tapes with groups from around the world, Fuck the Facts began developing a name in the underground with fans of grind. In 2001, the first full-length CD-R, ''Discoing the Dead'', was recorded. The same year, Das would assemble a full band to continue with the project. The band has since coined the terms "bastardized grindcore" and "mullet-core" to describe their sound. Misery Index is an American death metal band formed in 2001 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, by Jason Netherton (bass, vocals), Mike Harrison (guitar, vocals), and Kevin Talley (drums). In 2003, the band opened for Dying Fetus and Skinless on their North American tour. While their line-up of baritone sax, bass guitar and drums is typical of a jazz band, their hard-driving sound is indebted to punk rock and according to AllMusic "defies easy categorization". Brutal Truth was an American grindcore band from New York City, formed by ex- Anthrax, Nuclear Assault, and Stormtroopers of Death bass guitarist Dan Lilker in 1990. The group disbanded in 1999, but reformed in 2006 and continued to release music until 2014. History Brutal Truth was formed in 1990 in New York City. The band was originally signed to Earache Records, on which they released two albums, '' Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses'' and ''Need to Control'', as well as an EP entitled ''Perpetual Conversion'', and 7-inch singles for the songs "Ill Neglect" and "Godplayer".
