Pskov Power Station
Pskov power station (Pskov GRES) is a large-scale Russian regional power station located from Dedovichi urban settlement in Pskov Oblast near the western border of the Russian Federation. The station operates as a branch of OGK-2 since 2006. History The Ministry of Energy decided to create an industrial-scale power station in Pskov Oblast for a number of reasons. Due to the absence of any local generating capacities, the region required supplies of energy produced by the power system of Leningrad (Saint Petersburg). Additionally, the plant would have created a vast number of workplaces that could have potentially reduced the overall economic backwardness of the Pskov Oblast and Dedovichi district in particular. The construction area for the plant was established in 1964 and was approved by the Scientific and Technical council of the State Energetics and Electrification committee of the USSR in 1965. Dedovichi
Dedovichi (russian: Дедовичи) is an urban locality (a work settlement) and the administrative center of Dedovichsky District of Pskov Oblast, Russia, located on the Shelon River east of Pskov. Municipally, it is incorporated as Dedovichi Urban Settlement, the only urban settlement in the district. Population: History Whereas the area was populated from the 11th century, and an archeological site existing in Dedovichi shows that a fortress was located there in medieval times, the settlement of Dedovichi was founded in 1901 to serve a railway station, one of the five built on the stretch between Dno and Novosokolniki on the railway connecting Saint Petersburg and Kiev. At the time, Dedovichi was part of Porkhovsky Uyezd of Pskov Governorate. OGK-2
OGK-2 (Wholesale generating company №2) is a Russian power generation company. Majority of the company's stock is owned by Gazprom. History In 2005, five thermal power plants with installed capacity about 8,700 MW were merged into single company. The power output of these plants in 2007 was around 48 TWh. In April 2010, Gazprom, the major shareholder of OGK-2 and OGK-6, announced a plan to merge these companies. OGK-2 issued 26.59 billion new shares (81.2% of existing share capital) which were used for conversion of OGK-6 shares at a ratio of 1.2141 OGK-6 to 1 OGK-2 share. The merger was completed by 1 November 2011. Shelon River
The Shelon (russian: Шелонь) is a river in the northwest part of European Russia, in Dedovichsky, Porkhovsky, and Dnovsky Districts of Pskov Oblast and Soletsky and Shimsky Districts of Novgorod Oblast. The Shelon is one of the principal tributaries of Lake Ilmen. It has a length of and drains a basin of . The towns of Porkhov and Soltsy, as well as urban-type settlements of Dedovichi and Shimsk, are located on the banks of the Shelon.
