Pseuduvaria Beccarii
''Pseuduvaria beccarii'' is a species of plant in the family Annonaceae. It is endemic to New Guinea. Rudolph Scheffer, the Dutch botanist who first formally described the species using the basionym ''Orophea beccarii'', named it after Odoardo Beccari, the Italian naturalist who collected the sample he examined. Description It is a tree reaching 18 meters in height. Its papery leaves are 16-23 by 6-8 centimeters and come to a point at their tips. The leaves are hairless on their upper surface and densely hairy on their lower surfaces. The leaves have 14-18 pairs of secondary veins emanating from their midribs. Its densely hairy petioles are up to 4 millimeters long with a groove on their upper side. Inflorescences are organized on densely hairy peduncles 8-20 millimeters long. Rudolph Scheffer
Rudolph Herman Christiaan Carel Scheffer (born 12 September 1844 in Spaarndam, Netherlands - died 1880 in Singaraja, West Java, Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) was a Dutch botanist and director of Buitenzorg Botanical Garden. Biography Schefferd received his education at the University of Utrecht on medicine and mathematics and physics, where he graduated in 1864. His professor Miquel suggested Scheffer for the post of director of the botanical garden at Buitenzorg. In the National Herbarium in Leiden, he immersed himself in the specification of plant families. James Sinclair (botanist)
James Sinclair (1913–1968) was a Scottish botanist, who worked at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Life Sinclair was born in the Bu of Hoy Orkney, Scotland on 29 November 1913. He received a degree in botany from the Edinburgh University. Odoardo Beccari (16 November 1843 – 25 October 1920) was an Italian botanist famous for his discoveries in Indonesia, particularly New Guinea, and Australia.
