Pseudopod (band)
Pseudopod is an American rock band, formed in 1998 in Los Angeles, California. The band is perhaps best known for winning ''Rolling Stone''s award for the Best College Band in America contest in 200 The band bested over 1,000 other college bands from across the country to win the award. Pseudopod was formed in 1998 by Ross Grant, Tim McGregor, Brian Fox and Kevin Carlberg, who were all college students studying music at UCLA. While in school, the band released their first CD, entitled "Pod". After entering and winning ''Rolling Stone''s MUSICOMANIA: Best College Band in America award in 2000, Pseudopod used the contest's prize money to create its demo CD, entitled Rest Assured. Inga Vainshtein, known for discovering and managing Jewel, became their manager and brought Pseudopod's album to legendary A&R man, Mark Williams, at Interscope Records. Kevin Carlberg
Kevin Carlberg (April 28, 1977 – August 29, 2009) was an American vocalist and acoustic guitarist. Carlberg is best known as the vocalist and acoustic guitarist of Pseudopod. He completed a solo CD with producer Dito Godwin. Carlberg was diagnosed with brain cancer. He enrolled in an experimental immuno-therapy treatment at UCLA called the dendritic cell vaccine and after 5 years of remission, the tumor had not returned. On September 5, 2008 Carlberg was featured on the one-hour "Stand Up 2 Cancer" tele-cast and has been the subject of other notable news casts and articles. On August 29, 2009, Carlberg died from brain cancer. Blues Traveler (formerly known as "The Establishment" or "The Black Cat Jam" or "The Establishment Blues Band") is an American rock band that formed in Princeton, New Jersey in 1987. O.A.R. (short for Of A Revolution) is an American rock band, founded in 1996 in Rockville, Maryland.
