Przemków (german: Primkenau) is a town in Polkowice County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in western Poland. It is the seat of the administrative district called Gmina Przemków. The town lies approximately west of Polkowice, and northwest of regional capital Wrocław. As of 2019, the town has a population of 6,107. Przemków gives its name to the nearby protected area called Przemków Landscape Park. Przemków Landscape Park
Scenic Park of Przemkow (''Przemkowski Park Krajobrazowy'') is a protected area ( Landscape Park) in western Poland, established in 1997, covering an area of . The Park lies within Lower Silesian Voivodeship: in Bolesławiec County (Gmina Gromadka) and Polkowice County (Gmina Chocianów, Gmina Gaworzyce, Gmina Przemków, Gmina Radwanice). Features There are four nature reserves within the park, two ornithological: Buczyna Piotrowicka, Stawy Przemkowskie (Ponds of Przemkow) and two floristic: Legi Zrodliskowe and Torfowisko Borowki. Pasternik Mountain is the highest point in the park at . It is uncommon inland dune formation. Arguably the oldest tree in Poland is located within the park borders in Piotrowice village. Lower Silesian Voivodeship, or Lower Silesia Province, in southwestern Poland, is one of the 16 voivodeships (provinces) into which Poland is divided. Albert, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein (Albert John Charles Frederick Alfred George; 26 February 1869 – 27 April 1931), was a grandson of Queen Victoria. Polkowice
Polkowice (german: Polkwitz) is a town in south-western Poland. It is situated in Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The town is the seat of Polkowice County and of Gmina Polkowice. Geography Polkowice is located in historic Lower Silesia, about northwest of Lubin. The nearest airport is Wrocław–Copernicus Airport, located from Polkowice. Situated in a traditional mining region, the town is part of the largest industrial copper-extraction area in Poland, with a copper-processing plant operating nearby. Alexander Friedrich Wilhelm Duncker (February 18, 1813 – August 23, 1879) was a German publisher and bookseller. Life and family He was descended from a successful Berlin family of booksellers, born in Berlin, the son of Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Duncker (1781–1869) and Fanny Duncker (née Wolff). His brothers included historian and politician Maximilian Duncker (1811–1886), and publisher and pundit Franz Duncker (1822–1888), founder of a trade union with labor economist Max Hirsch (1832–1905). Adolf Ernst
Adolf Ernst (October 6, 1832 – August 12, 1899) was a Prussian-born scientist. Ernst settled in Venezuela in 1861, where he taught at the Central University of Venezuela. He became the most important scientist in the country during the second half of the 19th century and was a key figure in the creation of the Museum of Natural Science and the National Library of Venezuela, where he also served as its director. He developed important scientific works in this country. Also, as a university professor, he had a marked influence on generations of scientists from the second half of the nineteenth century in Venezuela.
