Richard Clapton (born 18 May 1948) is an Australian singer-songwriter-guitarist and producer. His solo top 20 hits on the Kent Music Report Singles Chart are " Girls on the Avenue" (1975) and "I Am an Island" (1982). He reached the top 20 on the related albums chart with ''Goodbye Tiger'' (1977), ''Hearts on the Nightline'' (1979), '' The Great Escape'' (1982) and ''The Very Best of Richard Clapton'' (1982). Clapton's highest-charting album, ''Music Is Love (1966–1970)'' (April 2021), peaked at number 3 on the ARIA Chart. As a producer he worked on the second INXS album, ''Underneath the Colours'' (1981). The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia. Festival Records (later known as Festival Mushroom Records) was an Australian recording and publishing company founded in Sydney, Australia, in 1952 and operated until 2005. Festival was a wholly owned subsidiary of News Limited from 1961 to 2005, and the company was successful for most of its 50-year life, despite the fact that as much as 90% of its annual profit was regularly siphoned off by Rupert Murdoch to subsidise his other media ventures. Red McKelvie
Red McKelvie was a New Zealand singer-songwriter-instrumentalist and session musician who has been described as "Australasia's greatest pop guitarist". He has appeared on albums by Richard Clapton (including the Australian hit "Girls on the Avenue") and The Flying Circus in Australia and Hello Sailor, Dave Dobbyn's DD Smash, Al Hunter and Glen Moffatt in New Zealand. McKelvie's early forays in the music scene were as lead guitarist for such Auckland, New Zealand, bands as The Chelsea Beats, The Dark Ages and The Avengers, but it was upon his arrival in Sydney, Australia, in 1967 that he became a much in-demand sideman and session player. Russell James Dunlop (21 October 194516 May 2009) was an Australian musician, singer-songwriter and record producer-engineer. From the late 1970s he collaborated with Bruce Brown in a production company for albums and singles by Australian performers including Mental As Anything, The Reels and Machinations. John Joseph Capek is a composer, arranger, keyboardist, producer. Biography John Capek was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic). on 27 November 1947. He is the son of Fred Capek, a concert pianist and Mechanical Engineer, and Irene Capek, both survivors of Terezin and the Auschwitz concentration camp. Capek moved with his family to Melbourne, Australia at the age of three. His father was his first piano teacher and showed him the works of Czech composers Bedřich Smetana and Antonín Dvorak, which he was playing by the age of three. Kevin Nicholas Borich (born 27 October 1948, Huapai, North Island, New Zealand) is a New Zealand-born Australian guitarist and singer-songwriter. He was a founding member of The La De Das, the leader of Kevin Borich Express, and a founding member of The Party Boys, as well as a session musician for numerous acts. Borich wrote "Gonna See My Baby Tonight" for The La De Das, which became a top 10 hit in 1971 on the Australian singles chart. Drummer Keith Barber (17 April 1947 – 1 May 2005) was born in Kilburn, North West London, England, moved to Melbourne when he was 10 years old and later joined a local band, the Wild Cherries in early 1966. Together with founding member Les Gilbert, he put together a second incarnation of the group that recorded four singles for the Festival label between 1967 and 1968. In late 1968, he left to join a New Zealand band, The La De Das The La De Da's were a New Zealand rock band of the 1960s and early 1970s.
