Dwayne Provo
Dwayne Provo (born October 7, 1970) is a Canadian athlete, school administrator, and politician. Early life Provo was born in North Preston, Nova Scotia (one of Canada's largest Black communities) and attended university at Saint Mary's University where he played Canadian football and was drafted in 1995 by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Professional football career He went on to play professional football in the Canadian Football League for 8 years (as well as a brief stint in the National Football League). Since retiring from football he has taken further university studies and worked as a school administrator. Political career In the 2006 Nova Scotia election, he ran as the Progressive Conservative candidate for the riding of Preston, but finished second to Liberal Keith Colwell. Provo College
Provo College is a private for-profit college focused on health care programs and located in Provo, Utah. History What is now Provo College opened in 1984 under the name of Dental Careers Institute. Its name changed to Advanced Careers Institute and finally, in December 1989, it was named Provo College. The name change reflected the broadened scope of the college with the addition of curriculum in court reporting and medical transcription. In April 1992, the school was acquired by the Center for Professional Studies, Inc. and relocated to its current location. During 1996 and 1997, the college expanded its offerings and added the Associate of Applied Science degree to all its programs. Subsequently, in 2005, Provo College was granted approval from ACCSC to change its degree offering from Associate of Applied Science to Associate of Science. Bachelor's degrees were added in 2013. USNS ''Provo'' (T-AG-173) was a ''Phoenix''-class miscellaneous auxiliary acquired by the United States Navy in 1962, crewed by a civilian crew from the Military Sea Transportation Service, and sent to the Philippines to serve as a delivery ship of parts and supplies to other Navy ships and stations in the Asian area. ''Provo'' remained in the Philippines, issuing parts and other supplies, until the early 1970s, being struck by the Navy in 1973. She was built as a Victory ship for World War II as the SS ''Drew Victory'' under the Emergency Shipbuilding program for the War Shipping Administration. Provo (movement)
Provo was a Dutch counterculture movement in the mid-1960s that focused on provoking violent responses from authorities using non-violent bait. It was preceded by the nozem movement and followed by the hippie movement. Provo was founded, on 25 May 1965, by Robert Jasper Grootveld, an anti-smoking activist, and the anarchists Roel van Duijn and Rob Stolk. The term was used for the movement as a whole and for individual members. Provo was officially disbanded on 13 May 1967. Magazine 12 July 1965 the first ''Provo'' magazine was published. It contained the "Provo manifesto", written by Roel van Duijn, and reprinted recipes for bombs from a nineteenth-century anarchist pamphlet. The magazine was eventually confiscated. Provo Central station is an intermodal transit station in Provo, Utah, United States. It is served by the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) FrontRunner commuter rail line as well as local, intra-county, and interstate buses. It is the southern terminus of the commuter rail system, with service running north as far as Ogden. The station is also known as Provo Intermodal Hub, Provo Station, or Provo CRS. It is part of the ''FrontRunner'' South extension. Description The station is at 690 South University Avenue U.S. Route 189 on 15 acres and covers a two city block area between Freedom Boulevard (200 West) and University Avenue. Provo station is a train station in Provo, Utah. It is served by Amtrak's ''California Zephyr'', which runs once daily between Chicago and Emeryville, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Description The station is located on the north side of the tracks and south of 600 South at 300 West. It is easily accessible from 200 West and has six paved parking spaces. There are no services provided at the station (i.e., ticketing, restrooms, lounge, etc.). The station is within walking distance of downtown Provo. The station is located within a Quiet Zone, so all trains (including Utah Transit Authority's ''FrontRunner'' and Union Pacific's) do not routinely sound their horns when approaching public crossings within this corridor although they do sound their bells.
