Provincial Highway 61 (Taiwan)
Provincial Highway No. 61 is usually known as West Coast Expressway (西部濱海快速公路). The highway runs along the west coast of Taiwan. Several sections of the highway are freeway standards with no at-grade intersections, while the rest are local highway standards. There are several sections open for the traffic. Others are still under construction. Tamsui District
Tamsui District (Hokkien POJ: ''Tām-chúi''; Hokkien Tâi-lô: ''Tām-tsuí''; Mandarin Pinyin: ''Dànshuǐ'') is a seaside district in New Taipei, Taiwan. It is named after the Tamsui River; the name means "fresh water". The town is popular as a site for viewing the sun setting into the Taiwan Strait. Though modest in size (population 184,192), it has a large role in Taiwanese culture. Name Historical Originally settled by the Ketagalan aborigines, the location was called ''Hoba'', meaning "stream's mouth". ''Hoba'' was loaned into Taiwanese Hokkien as ''Hobe''. Historical works in English have referred to the place as "Hobe", "Hobé", or "Hobe Village". The Spanish arrived in the 17th century and called this place ''Casidor'' and the Tamsui River ''Kimalon''. Xindian District
Xindian District () is an inner city district in the southern part of New Taipei City, Taiwan. Name Xindian's name originated during the Qing Dynasty close to 300 years ago. According to legend, a person named Lin and others came from Quanzhou, Fujian Province. On a mountain road leading to Wulai, they built a small cabin and opened a store selling groceries for the exchange of goods with mountain aborigines. Since the store had no formal name, travelers called it ''Sintiam'' (). An area usually not considered as part of Xindian is ''Ankeng'' (), although it is within the jurisdiction of the district, located in a valley on the west side of the Xindian Creek. Xiangshan or Siangshan District is a district in southwest Hsinchu City, Taiwan. It is the largest of the three districts in Hsinchu City. History Xiangshan was originally a township of Hsinchu County. On 1 July 1982, the area was incorporated into the newly-formed Hsinchu City as a district. Zhudong
Zhudong Township is an urban township in central Hsinchu County, Taiwan. Part of Hsinchu Science Park is in Zhudong. Also located in Zhudong is the main campus of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). Zhudong is approximately 20 minutes drive from Hsinchu town center on one of two freeways, route 3 North, which passes nearby and route 68 East which proceeds directly through Zhudong. Name Literally, ''Zhudong'' means "bamboo east" but in this context, ''zhu'' is short for "Hsinchu". Thus, Zhudong lies east of Hsinchu (''cf.'' Zhubei which lies north 'bei''of Hsinchu.) Hsinchu City
Hsinchu (, Chinese: 新竹, Pinyin: ''Xīnzhú'', Wade–Giles: ''Hsin¹-chu²'') is a city located in northwestern Taiwan. It is the most populous city in Taiwan Province not among the special municipalities, with estimated 450,655 inhabitants. Hsinchu is a coastal city bordering the Taiwan Strait to the west, Hsinchu County to the north and east, and Miaoli County to the south. Nicknamed the ''Windy City'' for its strong northeastern monsoon during the autumn and winter seasons. Zhubei
Zhubei ( Wade-Giles: ''Chupei''; Hakka PFS: ''Chuk-pet''; Hokkien POJ: ''Tek-pak'') is a city in the nation of Taiwan. It is one of the fastest-growing settlements in Taiwan, with a population gain of 51,000 between 2010 and 2019, the highest of any township/city or district. Xinfeng Township () is a rural township in Hsinchu County in northern Taiwan. It had an estimated population of 56,484 as of January 2017. History Xinfeng is a major industrial and manufacturing center in Hsinchu. It shares the Hsinchu Industrial Park with its neighboring town, Hukou. It is also the home of Ming Hsin University. Xinwu or Sinwu District is a rural, coastal district in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, home to 49,046 people, of which most are Hakka. Daxi District
Daxi District (), formerly known as Daxi Township (), is a district in eastern Taoyuan City, Taiwan. In March 2012, it was named one of the ''Top 10 Small Tourist Towns'' by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan. History The Daxi area was occupied for several thousand years by the Atayal people. The Atayal called the local river (modern-day Dahan Creek) ''Takoham'' in their native Austronesian language. This gave rise to similar names such as ''Toa-kho-ham'' (; also ) in Hokkien and ''Taikokan'' in Japanese via transliteration. Guanyin District
Guanyin District () is a rural, coastal district in western Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Guanyin is the name of a Buddhist goddess. History Guanyin was originally named as Shiguanyin during the Qing Dynasty rule. It was renamed to Guanyin in 1920 during the Japanese rule. Taoyuan International Airport
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is an international airport serving Taipei and northern Taiwan. Located about west of Taipei in Dayuan District, Taoyuan, the airport is Taiwan's largest. It was also the busiest airport in Taiwan before the COVID-19 pandemic which began in 2020. It is operated by the Taoyuan International Airport Corporation.
