Provincial Cabinet Of The Western Cape
The Executive Council of the Western Cape is the cabinet of the executive branch of the provincial government in the South African province of the Western Cape. The Members of the Executive Council (MECs) are appointed from among the members of the Western Cape Provincial Legislature by the Premier of the Western Cape, an office held since the 2019 general election by Alan Winde. The council is referred to as the Executive Council in the national Constitution, but is denoted the Provincial Cabinet of the Western Cape in the Western Cape Constitution. Executive Council (South Africa)
In South Africa, the Executive Council of a province is the cabinet of the provincial government. The Executive Council consists of the Premier and five to ten other members,''Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996'', Chapter 6: "Provinces", ss. 125–141 who have the title "Member of the Executive Council", commonly abbreviated to "MEC". MECs are appointed by the Premier from amongst the members of the provincial legislature; the Premier can also dismiss them. The provincial legislature may force the Premier to reconstitute the council by passing a motion of no confidence in the Executive Council excluding the Premier; if the legislature passes a motion of no confidence in the Executive Council ''including'' the Premier, then the Premier and the MECs must resign. Western Cape Department Of Health
The Western Cape Department of Health is a department of the Government of the Western Cape, responsible for providing public healthcare to the population of the Western Cape province of South Africa. The political head of the department is the Provincial Minister of Health; this is Nomafrench Mbombo of the Democratic Alliance. The administrative head is the Superintendent-General of Health; this was Professor Craig Househam. In the 2010/11 financial year, the department had 27,993 employees and a budget of R11,962,863,000. Patrick McKenzie
Patrick Cecil McKenzie (born 8 December 1952) is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament until his retirement in November 2012, holding several positions in the Western Cape Executive Council during that time. Between 1994 and 1999, before he joined the ANC, he represented the National Party, including for a brief period as Minister of Welfare and Population Development in Nelson Mandela's Government of National Unity in 1996. Jacobus Johannes "Cobus" Dowry (7 December 1946 – 5 May 2014) was a South African politician who served in the Western Cape Executive Council from 2002 to 2009. He served in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2002 and in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 2002 to 2009. He represented the National Party (NP) and New National Party (NNP) until September 2005, when he crossed the floor to the African National Congress (ANC). Leonard Ramatlakane
Leonard Ramatlakane (born 16 February 1953) is the former Minister of Community Safety in the Western Cape province of South Africa whilst an ANC member. He also served as the acting Premier briefly after Marthinus Van Schalkwyk resigned in 2004. Whilst he was Provincial Minister for Safety and Security in 2004 Ramatlakane received death threats allegedly from the Chinese triads following the arrest of suspected gang kingpin Quinton 'Mr Big' Marinus and after an increase in investigations into organised crime in the province. Ramatlakane then controversially spent R347,716 of public money on enhancing security at his home. Qubudile Richard Dyantyi (born 25 October 1968) has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly since 2019.
