The Provincial Assembly of Lumbini Province also known as the Lumbini Pradesh Sabha, (Nepali: लुम्बिनी प्रदेश सभा) is a unicameral governing and law making body of Lumbini Province, one of the 7 provinces in Nepal, and is situated at Dang, the interim province capital of Lumbini Province, with 60 Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPA). Kul Prasad KC is the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. The Speaker of the Assembly is Purna Bahadur Gharti. Umakanta Jha is the first Governor of Lumbini Province. Current Governor Hon. 2nd Lumbini Provincial Assembly
The second Lumbini Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2022 Nepalese provincial elections, 2022 provincial elections on 20 November 2022. 87 members were elected to the assembly, 52 of whom were elected through Direct election, direct elections and 35 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. 2022 Nepalese Provincial Elections
Provincial assembly elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 along with the general election. 330 seats in the seven provincial assemblies will be elected by first-past-the-post voting and 220 by proportional representation. Electoral system The 550 members of the provincial assemblies will be elected by two methods; 330 will be elected from single-member constituencies by first-past-the-post voting and 220 seats will be elected by closed list proportional representation for parties gathering more than 1.5% of the votes. Each voter will get separate ballot papers for the two methods. Kul Prasad KC Cabinet
Kul Prasad KC was sworn in as Chief Minister of Lumbini Province on 12 August 2021. He became second chief minister of Lumbini after Shankar Pokharel resigned reaching minority. Nepali Congress, the second largest party in assembly, played vital role in government formation. Kul Prasad KC ( ne, कुल प्रसाद केसी) is a Nepalese politician and current Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, a province in western Nepal. He was unanimously selected Parliamentary Party leader of CPN(Maoist-centre) for Lumbini Province. KC was elected from Rolpa 1(A) to provincial Assembly of Lumbini province. He is the second Chief-minister of Lumbini Province after Shankar Pokhrel resigned from the post. KC became chief minister by the support of Nepali Congress, PSP-N and Rastriya Janamorcha. 1st Lumbini Provincial Assembly
The first Lumbini Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections. 87 members were elected to the assembly, 52 of whom were elected through direct elections and 35 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 4 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Shankar Pokharel from the CPN (UML) and Kul Prasad KC from the CPN (Maoist Centre) served as chief ministers during the term of the assembly. Amik Sherchan (born 1944) is a Nepalese politician and current Governor of Lumbini Province of Nepal. He is former chairman of Janamorcha Nepal. He served as the Deputy Prime Minister & Health and Population Minister of Nepal in the interim government under Girija Prasad Koirala cabinet. Lumbini Province ( ne, लुम्बिनी प्रदेश, Lumbinī pradēśa) is a province in western Nepal. It borders Gandaki Province and Karnali Province to the north, Sudurpashchim Province to the west, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar of India to the south. Lumbini is the third largest and the third most populous province among the Nepali provinces. Lumbini's capital, Deukhuri, is near the geographic centre of the province; it is a small town which is currently being developed to meet the prerequisite of provincial capital.
