Providence Anime Conference
Providence Anime Conference (PAC) was a three-day anime convention held in Providence, Rhode Island. It was the first 21-and-older anime convention. PAC was created by the New England Anime Society, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit organization also responsible for creating Anime Boston. History Providence Anime Conference was announced at Anime Boston 2007 with a 21-and-older age requirement and programing geared towards mature fans. The convention estimated that attendance would be in the thousands for the first year, and instituted a 2000-attendee cap, but only registered 211 paid attendees. Problems with the convention included a remote convention location, an expensive convention center with limited public transportation, the 21-and-older age requirement, and no one-day passes. Rhode Island Convention Center
The Rhode Island Convention Center is an exposition center in downtown Providence, RI. Opened in 1993, it is the largest convention center in Rhode Island, with about of exhibition space, including a exhibit hall. It is connected by skybridges to the Amica Mutual Pavilion, and the adjacent Omni Hotels Omni Providence Hotel (formerly The Westin). The ground level features a main exhibition hall with 100,000 square feet, and the upper level has a ballroom and meeting halls. The building has a five-story glass front with a large space outside the meeting rooms and exhibit halls where visitors can gather and mingle. Ushicon was an annual three day anime convention held during February at the Courtyard by Marriott Austin Pflugerville and Pflugerville Conference Center in Pflugerville, Texas. The convention resumed operation in 2011 as an 18-and-older event. It was originally held in Austin, Texas, from 2002 to 2006 until ceasing operations due to changes in anime fandom and facility issues. History Ushicon did not return after 2006 due to issues with convention facilities in Austin not being able to handle 2,500-5,000 attendees and changes in the fandom that did not match with the goals of Ushicon. David L. Williams, sometimes referred to by his initials, DLW, is an American producer and ADR director (and, occasionally, a voice actor) that has been with ADV Films from the beginning when his living room was used as a production facility for their first show, ''Devil Hunter Yohko''. He left ADV in March 2008 and has since worked at Sentai Filmworks and Seraphim Digital. David regularly makes appearances at anime conventions as a representative of ADV. Providence is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island. Christopher Owen Ayres (May 16, 1965 – October 18, 2021) was an American actor, director and scriptwriter. He worked on voice acting and ADR directing on a number of English dubs of Japanese anime shows at Funimation, OkraTron 5000, New Generation Pictures and Seraphim Digital / Sentai Filmworks. In anime, he was known as the voice of Frieza from ''Dragon Ball Z Kai'' and ''Dragon Ball Super'', Kei Kurono from ''Gantz'', Prince Soma from ''Black Butler'', and Shingen Takeda from the ''Sengoku Basara'' series.
