Prospect Hill Historic District (New Haven, Connecticut)
The Prospect Hill Historic District is an irregularly-shaped historic district in New Haven, Connecticut. The district encompasses most of the residential portion of the Prospect Hill neighborhood. The district includes two U.S. National Historic Landmark properties which are separately listed on the National Register: the Othniel C. Marsh House and the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 1979, it included 238 buildings deemed to contribute to the historic character of the area. The district is significant primarily for its architecture. It includes major collections of Queen Anne style architecture in the United States, Shingle Style architecture, Colonial Revival architecture, and Tudor Revival architecture. Prospect Hill Historic District (Willimantic, Connecticut)
The Prospect Hill Historic District encompasses a large residential area in the Willimantic section of Windham, Connecticut. Located north of the Main Street commercial district, it was developed between about 1865 and 1930, and is one of the state's largest historic districts, with more than 800 contributing buildings. It is roughly bounded by Valley, Jackson, Bolivia, Washburn, Windham, and High Streets, and contains one of the state's largest single concentrations of Victorian-era residential architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Description and history Willimantic's industrial history began in the 18th century, when grist and saw mills were established along the Willimantic Falls section of the Willimantic River. Prospect Hill Historic District is a national historic district located at Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana. The district encompasses 38 contributing buildings and 8 contributing structures in a predominantly residential section of Bloomington. Prospect Hill Historic District (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Prospect Hill Historic District is located on a hillside outside of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Mount Auburn neighborhood of Cincinnati. Prospect Hill is bounded by the following streets, Liberty, Sycamore, Boal and Highland. Prospect Hill is sometimes called locally "Liberty Hill". The District is bordered to the north by the Mount Auburn Historic District and the Pendleton neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine to the south. Architecture The majority of buildings are brick, and the predominant architectural style is Italianate. Dating from the 1860-80 period, this style is characterized by bracketed cornices and round or segmental arched window details. Good examples of earlier Greek Revival style architecture constructed between 1835 and 1860 are also found, predominantly located on the lower streets which developed the earliest. Prospect Hill (Arlington, Virginia)
Prospect Hill in Arlington County, Virginia is the former location of a Federal style mansion built in 1841 by successful contractor James Roach in Arlington County (then named Alexandria County). The house was built on Arlington Ridge Road. In 1861, the land was seized and vandalized by Union soldiers during the construction of Fort Runyon and Fort Albany. The house was demolished in 1965, but an historic marker has been placed at the site. Roach had also supplied most of the materials for the Alexandria Canal, the Aqueduct Bridge, and the Alexandria, Loudoun and Hampshire Railroad.
