Prospect, New South Wales
Prospect is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Prospect is located 32 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of the City of Blacktown and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. One of the oldest suburbs in Sydney, Prospect takes its name from the prominent nearby landmark of Prospect Hill - from the top of which people could ''get a prospect of'' (see a great distance) the surrounding countryside. Initially a settlement for emancipated convicts, it later became a village. Since colonisation, settlers cleared larger areas of land to raise livestock, build churches, inns, schools, shops and a large reservoir. The council seat is the unusually-large suburb of Prospect, which makes up almost two thirds of the tiny council area, which is less than . Prospect is the seat of the City of Prospect and an inner northern suburb of greater Adelaide. It is located north of Adelaide's centre. History Torsdale Farm Provisional School opened on 16 July 1919 as a half-time provisional school in conjunction with Torsdale Station Provisional School (meaning they shared a single teacher). Both schools closed on 31 December 1920 due to low student numbers. Kooingal State School opened on 4 June 1931. It closed on 8 July 1956. It was at 1382 Crowsdale Camboon Road (). Prospect (mining)
Prospecting is the first stage of the geological analysis (followed by exploration) of a territory. It is the search for minerals, fossils, precious metals, or mineral specimens. It is also known as fossicking. Traditionally prospecting relied on direct observation of mineralization in rock outcrops or in sediments. Modern prospecting also includes the use of geologic, geophysical, and geochemical tools to search for anomalies which can narrow the search area. Once an anomaly has been identified and interpreted to be a potential prospect direct observation can then be focused on this area. In some areas a prospector must also make claims, meaning they must erect posts with the appropriate placards on all four corners of a desired land they wish to prospect and register this claim before they may take samples. Edmonton Prospects
The Edmonton Prospects are a dormant collegiate summer baseball team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They play in the Western Canadian Baseball League. The team was founded in 2005 as the Edmonton Big River Prospects but moved to the Edmonton suburb of St. Albert after only one year of use of Telus Field with the Edmonton Cracker-Cats of the Northern League. They took a leave of absence from the WMBL for the 2008 season before returning in 2009 under their current name. Prior to the 2012 season they played out of John Fry Park on the south side of Edmonton. In 2012 the Prospects began playing out of Telus Field, which was renamed RE/MAX Field in 2017. The Prospects played the 2021 season as a road team. In 2022, they played most of their home games at Centennial Park Field 9 in Sherwood Park, and they plan to move to the Myshak Metro Ballpark in Spruce Grove when this new park opens. Division Of Prospect
The Division of Prospect was an Australian Electoral Division in the state of New South Wales from 1969 to 2010. It was located in the western suburbs of Sydney, and included the suburbs of Fairfield, Smithfield, Kemps Creek, St Clair, Horsley Park and those parts of the suburb of Prospect south of the Great Western Highway which were the least populous parts of the suburb. The Prospect Reservoir was located within the Division. The origins of the Division date back to the redistribution of 21 November 1968, and was first contested at the 1969 Federal election. The seat was a safe Labor seat for its entire existence. Following the 2009 redistribution of New South Wales, the division was renamed McMahon to honour former Prime Minister Sir William McMahon. ''Prospect'' is a 2018 American science fiction indie film. The film was written and directed by Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell and stars Pedro Pascal, Sophie Thatcher, and Jay Duplass. It features a teenage girl and her father traveling to an alien moon with a contract to mine gems in the moon's poisonous forest. On the moon, the father is driven by greed, and the two encounter dangerous strangers in the forest. Plot A teenage girl, Cee, and her father, Damon, descend in a landing pod from a transport spaceship to the surface of a forest moon covered in poisonous spores to mine for gems. They suffer a technical malfunction during the descent which cripples the lander and the pair touch down some distance away from their planned prospecting site. The Prospect Studios (also known as ABC Television Center est'') is a lot containing several television studios located at 4151 Prospect Avenue in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, at the corner of Prospect and Talmadge Street (named in honor of silent screen star Norma Talmadge), just east of Hollywood. For more than fifty years, this facility served as the West Coast headquarters of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) before the network moved its main headquarters to the Walt Disney Studios in 1996. History The union was formed on 1 November 2001 by the merger of the Institution of Professionals Managers and Specialists and the Engineers and Managers Association.
