Promo Parachutiste is the selection course which Legionnaires intending to join 2ème REP undergo at Camp Raffalli in Calvi, Haute-Corse. Selection Selection for 2e REP takes four weeks. The first two weeks are physical tests across terrain. Parachute training takes place at Camp Raffalli and runs for two weeks with a total of six jumps. 2e REP is the only regiment of the 11th Parachute Brigade which trains its paratroopers. The Legionnaires spend their parachute training in Calvi TAP within the walls of the regiment. All other regiments are trained at the École des troupes aéroportées (ETAP) in Pau. Every new legionnaire has a password, assigned to a TAP instructor. This training is called the "promotion" or "the promo". It lasts for two to four weeks depending on aircraft availability for the jumping session. 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment
The 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment (french: 2e Régiment étranger de parachutistes, 2e REP) is the only airborne regiment of the Foreign Legion in the French Army. It is one of the four infantry regiments of the 11th Parachute Brigade and part of the spearhead of the French rapid reaction force. Since the regiment's arrival from Algeria in 1967, it has been stationed at Camp Raffalli near the town of Calvi on the island of Corsica, south of mainland France. The regiment is also equipped with Véhicule de l'Avant Blindé (VAB). Camp Raffalli is a military camp of the French Army. It is located in the municipalities of Calenzana and Calvi, Haute-Corse. Calvi, Haute-Corse
Calvi (; ; ; ) is a ''commune'' in the Haute-Corse department of France on the island of Corsica. It is the seat of the Canton of Calvi, which contains Calvi and one other ''commune'', Lumio. Calvi is also the capital of the Arrondissement of Calvi, which contains, besides the Canton of Calvi, three other cantons: L'Île-Rousse, Belgodère, and Calenzana. 11th Parachute Brigade (France)
The 11th Parachute Brigade (french: 11e Brigade Parachutiste, 11e BP) is a unit of the French Army, predominantly infantry, part of the French Airborne Units and specialized in air combat and air assault. The brigade's primary vocation is to project in emergency in order to contribute a first response to a situational crisis. An elite unit of the French Army, the brigade is commanded by a ''général de brigade'' (Brigadier General) with headquarters in Balma near Toulouse. The brigade's soldiers and airborne Marines wear the red beret (amaranth) except for the Legionnaires of the 2ème REP who wear the green beret. The ''École des troupes aéroportées'' (ETAP), or School of Airborne Troops, is a military school dedicated to training the military paratroopers of the French army.
