Project 23550 Patrol Ship
Project 23550 is a class of armed icebreaking patrol ships with two vessels currently under construction for the Russian Navy at Admiralty Shipyards in Saint Petersburg, Russia ("Arktika" Type, russian: шифр «Арктика», translation=codename ''Arctic''). Two ships have been ordered from the Admiralty Shipyards in 2016. The ships are designed to patrol the Russian territorial waters and exclusive economic zone in the Arctic. During the launching ceremony of the lead ship, it was announced that two additional ships of slightly revised design would be built for the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation by Vyborg Shipyard ("Ermak" Type, russian: шифр «Ермак», link=no, translation=codename ''Yermak''). The JSC Admiralty Shipyards (russian: link=no, Адмиралтейские верфи) (''formerly Soviet Shipyard No. 194'') is one of the oldest and largest shipyards in Russia, located in Saint Petersburg. The Kamov Ka-27 (NATO reporting name 'Helix') is a military helicopter developed for the Soviet Navy, and currently in service in various countries including Russia, Ukraine, Vietnam, China, South Korea, and India. Variants include the Ka-29 assault transport, the Ka-28 downgraded export version, and the Ka-32 for civilian use. Design and development The helicopter was developed for ferrying and anti-submarine warfare. Design work began in 1969 and the first prototype flew in 1973. It was intended to replace the decade-old Kamov Ka-25, and had to have identical or inferior external dimensions compared to its predecessor. Raptor-class Patrol Boat
The Raptor-class patrol boat, formally identified as Project 03160, is a series of Russian high-speed coastal patrol boats. Boats of the class belong to the 4th rank ships in the Russian Navy. This project was developed by the design bureau of JSC Leningrad Shipyard Pella on the instructions of the Russian Navy. The boats are built at the Pella shipyard in the town of Otradnoye, Leningrad Region. Due to the great similarity in appearance, the boats of the project can be confused with the Swedish CB90-class fast assault craft and other transport and landing boats of the 02510 BK-16 project, developed by the Kalashnikov Concern, Kalashnikov concern and manufactured at Rybinsk shipyard. Draft (hull)
The draft or draught of a ship's hull is the vertical distance between the waterline and the bottom of the hull (keel). The draught of the vessel is the maximum depth of any part of the vessel, including appendages such as rudders, propellers and drop keels if deployed. Draft determines the minimum depth of water a ship or boat can safely navigate. The related term air draft is the maximum height of any part of the vessel above the water. The more heavily a vessel is loaded, the deeper it sinks into the water, and the greater its draft. After construction, the shipyard creates a table showing how much water the vessel displaces based on its draft and the density of the water (salt or fresh).
