Progress M-5
Progress M-5 (russian: Прогресс М-5, italic=yes) was a Soviet uncrewed cargo spacecraft which was launched in 1990 to resupply the Mir space station. The twenty-third of sixty four Progress spacecraft to visit Mir, it used the Progress-M 11F615A55 configuration, and had the serial number 206. It carried supplies including food, water and oxygen for the EO-7 crew aboard Mir, as well as equipment for conducting scientific research, and fuel for adjusting the station's orbit and performing manoeuvres. It was the first of ten Progress flights to carry a VBK-Raduga capsule, which was recovered after the flight. Progress M-5 was launched at 10:37:42 GMT on 27 September 1990, atop a Soyuz-U2 carrier rocket flying from Site 1/5 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Progress-M
Progress-M (russian: Прогресс-М, GRAU indices 11F615A55 and 11F615A60), also known as Progress 7K-TGM, is a Russian, previously Soviet spacecraft which is used to resupply space stations. It is a variant of the Progress spacecraft, originally built in the late 1980s as a modernised version of the Progress 7K-TG spacecraft, using new systems developed for the Soyuz-T and Soyuz-TM spacecraft. The 11F61560 variant incorporated further modernisation, with digital flight control systems replacing the earlier analogue ones. The older 11F615A55 spacecraft outlived the newer 11F615A60. The final Progress-M, Progress-M-UM, was launched on 24 November 2021. Mir EO-7 was the seventh long duration expedition to the space station Mir. The two crew members were Gennadi Manakov (Commander) and Gennadi Strekalov (Flight Engineer). Crew The backup crew for this expedition were Viktor Afanasyev (Commander) and Musa Manarov (Flight Engineer). Overview Crew Arrival The two crew members arrived at Mir via Soyuz TM-10, which launched on 3 August 1990. The Soyuz spacecraft docked on to the Kvant2 Complex. Inclination
Orbital inclination measures the tilt of an object's orbit around a celestial body. It is expressed as the angle between a Plane of reference, reference plane and the orbital plane or Axis of rotation, axis of direction of the orbiting object. The VBK-Raduga capsule was a reentry capsule that was used for returning materials to Earth's surface from the space station ''Mir''.
