Progreso Lakes is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas. The population was 240 at the 2010 United States Census. The city, incorporated in 1979, is centered on Lion and Moon Lakes, two resacas or ox-bow lakes. Progreso Lakes is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission and Reynosa–McAllen metropolitan areas. In addition, it shares the U.S.-Mexico border with the city of Nuevo Progreso, Tamaulipas. Geography Progreso Lakes is located at (26.073384, –97.961371). It is situated along FM 1015 in southern Hidalgo County, approximately two miles south of Progreso and six miles south of Weslaco. The United States census of 2020 was the twenty-fourth decennial United States census. Census Day, the reference day used for the census, was April 1, 2020. Weslaco, Texas
Weslaco is a city in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census the population was 41,103, and in 2020 the estimated population was 41,103. It is located at the southern tip of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley near the Mexican border, across the Rio Grande from the city of Nuevo Progreso, Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas. Weslaco derives its name from the W.E. Stewart Land Company. It was the hometown of Harlon Block, one of the Marines photographed raising the flag at Iwo Jima, and of film and television actor David Spielberg.
